Yes, after start the free mode. The storyline is thought as tutorial for introduce the player

WHat do you do If your stuck in Thorn, with only 4 units (because of lack of experience) and surrounded by HUGE bandits armies?

I slipped out when they weren't looking ..and gained some cash destroying a weak army.

Raid, kill merchants and attack cities for loot, buy horses to carry said loot away so you don't leave any behind...
