system upgrade for the computer challenged

Hi guys this is what i have,

Win 7b 32 ultimate
intel 6420 dual core at 2.13ghz
nvidia gt220
ausus 24 inch (new)
thermaltake 1200w(new)
3 gig of ram
I dont know my motherboard

i have been doing a little research and bear in mind i dont really know what i'm doing but i have come up with this so far and also this will have to be a budget upgrade for around the $550 mark,

Amd 3 x6 1090t cpu
AsRock Fatal1ty 990FX-Pro motherboard
radeon 1g powercolor 6850 video card which i will add another in crossfire at a later and more financial time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. As you can see from my current specs i cant play my brand new copy of CLOD.And the saddest thing in the world is a grounded pilot:(

I might look for a 2 gig version of the ATI 6850(or 6870).

Also you might think about upgrading to W7 64 bit and get at least 4 gigs of DDR3 1333(pc3 1066) ram.

If you are only gaming than the AMD Phenom 2 X4 might suffice. No need for 6 cores just for gaming.(at least for now.my crystal ball fell off the desk and cracked and I can no longer see the future.I do have a new one on backorder).

thanks for the advice i forgot to mention that i will be upgrading to win 7 64 bit  .This wont be the only game i will be playing so i want to get maximum benefit from this upgrade too as money is pretty tight at the moment.I also need to upgrade my track IR at some point because its a version 3 so that needs attention.Fortunately i have CH pro pedals, throttle, Fighterstick etc so they will keep the cost down again.I also am getting a new camcorder and will be wanting to do some editing there as well and some you tube posts so i have to factor those in to the equation:-)
