Dynamic Clouds!
Just one of those things you don't tend to notice.
I was warming up my Blenhiem at x16 and noticed for the first time we have dynamic clouds in the sim. Taken on the cross country single player mission http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUdUvV03_EI Hadn't noticed it before. Cheers |
silly question:
is it fast forward? -nvm, "learn how to read" lesson learned looks ok, but we can dream for better |
i notice this too
however IMO i believe this isnt their final art look if they release sometime in the future a dynamic weather we will see much better clouds and more close to RL So this is a pretty rush style clouds like the terrain in the early days of the sim |
Funnily enough chaps, I noticed this myself in exactly the same situation as Skoshi, but wasn't sure if they'd always been like that or whether it was an improvement in one of the earlier patches.
It's definately not new to this patch, and may have been there from the start. Kinda helps explain why clouds are such a performance issue though.;) Maybe it shows up most in the cross-country mission because of the strong wind? Maybe. |
If that so, maybe that´s the why of the performance hit close to clouds.
|
They've been dynamic since launch as can be seen by my poorly made timelapse video I made back in April:

The only problem is the graphic optimization of clouds. The "computing" one runs ok, they are moving and changing shape, really beutiful. But need to me more "FPS friendly" in rendering.
|
Nanana, leave the clouds as they are and wait for graphic cards to catch up with the demand. Meanwhile just fly in sunny weather. Otherwise we might end up with dumped down ugly clouds.

I'd go as far to say that similar routines are used for dust generation too as they're causing the same severe fps hit. |
