The Scarlet Pimpernel aka Luthier - Straight answers required

Luthier

I and other would like straight answers to two simple questions.

1) Will 32 Bit OS users ever get the same functionality as 64 Bit OS users, albeit with lower performance?

2) Do you have a fix in the pipeline for Launcher exe failure that plagues 32 Bit OS systems?

I don't expect to get a reply to these questions as I think you are in a rest home suffering from "brain fatigue"...

One lives in hope.

Salute

3) will we ever have a 64 bit luncher?

its downright ridiculous to have a 32 bit luncher who works "fine" in 64 bit and bad in 32 bit.

What functionality do 64-bit users have that 32-bit users do not?

Will CLOD ever have a simple CO-OP function?

Madfish 10-24-2011 07:02 AM

No one with a system capable of playing CoD well would ever install a 32 bit OS. My recommendation is getting over it and saving for an upgrade.

We're talking computers here - not antiques or a nice megayacht or anything. You don't buy a computer just once in a lifetime.

It isn't, because same 32-bit launcher has different memory limits on 32-bit OS (2GB by default) and 64-bit OS (4GB). OS puts those limits, not launcher.

Any progress being made on the DX11 support?

Still no sign of Luthier, still that's to be expected.

To Captain Doggie I would say: Like 64 Bit systems work!!!

And I don't know why I would bother to reply to elitist remarks such as Madfish has made.

I don't profess to be a computer expert, but reading the forums, the overriding problems seem to come from 32 Bit systems.

Many people, me included with my "antiquated" PC, bought this Sim on the specs given, I quote from the DVD PC Config. Operating Systems: Win7/VistaSP2/XPSP3 Ram 2Gb (4Gb recommended) Video: DirectX 9 512 Mb DirectX 10 1Gb (recommended) Now call me old fashioned or "antiquated" as some people would say, but if my PC ticks all the "recommended" boxes, I expect it to work! Nowhere have I seen on specs, 32Bit "antiquated OS". do not buy. So in my book, this Sim is "unfit for purpose", and in the UK at least, you can demand your money back. A little extreme maybe, but I feel at the moment, this Sim nas been "over sold" to lower spec (not antiquated) PC users and should be a "do not buy" recommendation. I for one hope the Dev's sort out the bugs for low end users, as I feel the Sim is great (when it works). So to the "smugman" users out there, spare a thought for users who do not have "bottomless" pockets to buy the latest top of the range gear, some of us (me) have to fly on a budget.

So will all other repliers to this thread, please stick to the point and keep smug replies to themselves.

if all software had to cater for antequated systems then there would be no real advance in technology, and for those of us that do upgrade from time to time will find ourselves under-utilising the capabilities of our machines, or in essence we are all having to be held back by the unfit fat kid to make it an analogy.

Hmm time to do some reading, I think.

Most 32-bit systems on the x86 architecture cannot address more than 3 GB (3 x 1024^3) of memory. There are some workarounds, most notably versions of Windows Server or Linux kernels with Physical Address Extension (PAE) features, however by and large if you are running a 32-bit system on an x86 chip then you are subject to the "3 GB Barrier".

So, Vonte, if you are using a 32-bit system and have 4 GB of RAM installed then you do not meet the recommended requirements. Your total memory available is 3GB minus the amount of onboard memory that your video card has.

So if you have a 1 GB DX10 card your system can only use 2 gigs of main memory which is the bare minimum required.

So answer me this, please:

What exactly are your system specs? What OS are you running? Which model CPU do you have? Which model GPU?
