External Views for Full Real?

This is another one for you “full real” enthusiasts. How about a new option allowing external views only during ground operation? Keep in mind that you cannot operate your aircraft while using an external view in CoD. I have 2 reasons for this request.
First, it would be nice to be able to assess damage to your own aircraft both before and after a sortie. After sortie assessment is obvious—it would be very interesting to see how badly you were damaged after limping back from a tough dog fight. You may want to check things out before a sortie too. Say your airfield was just attacked while you were warming up. Some bombs landed close by and shook you up a bit, but you are not sure if any damage was done. It would be nice to take a look to see if you are missing any parts, and check all control surface movement before attempting to take off. In real life a ground crew member may have been around to help you out with this, but it’s always best for a pilot to check out his own aircraft.
Secondly, it would be nice to be able to determine where you are in relation to the runway after you spawn on an unfamiliar airfield. In real life pilots actually had the opportunity to view the entire area as they walked from the bar out to their crate. A quick outside look can be very helpful in getting to the runway and off the ground safely. How many times have you taxied all over the air field only to find out you were spawned just a few feet from the runway.

With externals OFF? And, only on the ground?

I guess I missed that in the detailed manual. :)

This is an "exit aircraft" command and online it may damage your aircraft if an AI-removal script is used by a server. Or another player can occupy your seat while you are out :)

lol, one learns realy always somethinh new - i also didnt knew that.

I have to remember next time i join a server.

OH, I guess you didn't ready the manual either FrankyBoy :)
That has been a complaint of mine for a long time in IL-2 Classic. When I tried the normal external view in CoD I just assumed it worked the same.

its not mentioned in the 'manual'

Yes, I know. That's why the :) is there. Not much information is in the manual. I really don't know how they expect to gain new players when there is so little inforation "easily" available.

when i think about that i purchased the Collectors Edition because the manual was already 'on paper'......what a waste.

REPKA server, had my Blenheim ready to roll, hit ALT-F2 to check where the runway is, came back in pit (ALT+F1), engines had stopped. Could not start them again.

I dont think you can use this command as we think as easy- at least you have to be very carfull !

I agree. If I'm understanding it right, someone else can steal your air plane while you are out looking around.
