Proper Gunsight/Convergence Calibration

Hi folks. I read in a post a while back that calibrating your gun sight with the convergence of your guns is doubled...ie: convergence = 170 gunsight calibration = 340 yards.

Is this correct, once in cockpit you set your gun sight to double the convergence distance?

'Fixed distance input error in gunsight for Spitfire and Hurricane;' - Is in the 'read me', but it still doesn't seem to coordinate for me.:confused:

Wow, that would be new to me. Remember that the convergence setting in your plane´s loadout is set in meters, meaning that you have to convert the settings from meters to yards used by your gunsight. However, I haven´t read anything concerning doubling the yards of the convergence in your gunsight.

The answer is: Almoust correct :)
1 m = 1.093611 yd

the guns convergence (as far as i know) is in meters, while gunsight are in meters for Axis planes and Yards for Allied.

Keep in mind that your gun convergence is splitted in 2:

Horizontal and Vertical

Horizontal is the point where bullets will reach a single point, while Vertical should be the distance where the guns will hit the point at the center of gunsight (if it has been correctly set obviously).

@All:
If i'm wrong please correct me :)

You have to be joking.. for the spit and hurri, are you saying they have accurately modelled the proceedure for adjusting your gunsight (which is great), but they have neglected to allow for the fact that historically, all adjustment was in yards, but they have only made any adjustment in metres? Not only that, but its wrong and we have to double the distance to get the correct result.. but then convert it all into yards from metres!!
lol!.. I can't believe they would make it that complicated for the users.. (what am I saying?.. of course they would.. they have been making gaffs like that since IL2)..
I'll shut up now.. I'm just starting to sound like a whining brat!

A convergence is one thing, and gunsight tweaking is another. de-facto gunsight is a range meter. For example the Bf-109 has 32 ft wingspan. Thus we adjust lower ring to 32. Then we set upper ring on 300 yards.

When wingtips of Bf-109 will touch inner ends of horizontal lines it will be 300 yards range.

And a convergence is another messed story. Vertical means horizontal in game and vice versa.

Are they really reversed ?
Didn't notice that because i always use the same for vertical and horizontal !
Bad joke from devs :(

I just checked - THEY ARE! :(

vertical->lateral
horizontal-> vertical

S.o. post as bug report please.

devs are informed about convergence bug, but... ya know ;-)
