'Bf 109G2/Trop Black 1 Oberleutnant Franz Schiess

Well here's my second Messerschmidt 109 and is the mount of Franz Schiess
'Bf 109G2/Trop Black 1 Oberleutnant Franz Schiess, Staffelkapitan 8/JG 53 Tunis-EL Aouina/Tunisia circa February 1943' (Minus the Black and white Ace of spades insignia on the engine cowling)

Schiess added a further 29 kills during this six months at the head of 8/JG53, before falling victim to P-38s off the the Gulf of Naples on the 2nd Sept 1943.

The umbrella was scratch built along with tropical filter, I think you'll agree a dry baked look has been achieved on this beautiful Bf109.

Bf 109E to go! (Bf109K completed already posted here ealier)

ENJOY!

Hi bullit,

if you dont mind i want to point out something.
First, very good work. I am interested in this airplane too, have three from Revell.

Nice work, sadly i am miles away from your great work.

I searched the internet and one fact is, that Shiess operated from Sicily, so there were green camou patterns on the wing. As i read further, the aircraft had the new style (armor glass) protection.

Its no criticism, only some facts:

look here if you want. Enlarge those photos to see those details

PS: PLEASE MAKE ME ONE TOO:-P

Thank you David198502.

LcSummers, some interesting points there thank you, there appears to be some level of controversy over exact markings for this plane even to the 'G' variant involved althogh this would have been progressive. Photos only seem to provide a snap shot of a particular variant/markings at any given particular time, I decided to go somewhere in between Osprey's Aces of the Mediterranean and an article in 'Military in Scale' Mag. Research can sometimes raise more questions than answer so my model could very well be wrong in some ways.

Very nice. I was wondering what scale it is - 1/48th ?

Made some kits long time ago and have been tempted to dip a toe in the water again, but time is too tight right now.

Sorry Kendo I thought I had put it in the description, it is a 1/24 Scale:)
