Online pilot name..

How does one alter one's online pilot name..?
Does it pick it up from the steam account..?

Yes, it takes the steam online name. If you want to alter it you have to edit your steam profile.

.. which is another PITA thanks to steam. Not only i used multiple callsigns in il2 itself ( E69_Pupo /rEd69_Pupo ) for internal campaigns, as i use multiple callsigns for different games i play...

I play several games in Steam and have to change my clan tag in my steam profile name for some of em before playing.
