How to install newest patch?

I am using Steam but Steam hasnt downloaded the latest patch that came today 2011-09-06 so I downloaded the patch as a torrent file and extracted the content and copied and pasted it into my game folder, however when i start the game its still the old patch and hence no new 109-E4 etc etc and no new sound....
So, how do I install it when Steam doesnt seem keen to download the patch??

cheers

Actually you should have done it right. Download the patch, extract it, copy the content to your game folder and start the game. Did you forget to allow it to overwrite the files?

I just wrote this into another thread but it might help you:

You can also use JSGME for beta patches. I do this since the first beta patch was released about a week after the game hit the shelves.

1.) Download JSGME
2.) Install it into your game folder
3.) Create a folder called MODS in your game folder
4.) In this MODS folder create another folder called IL2COD_15527 or however you want to call it
5.) Extract the patch files into this folder
6.) The folder should now contain the following:

09062011 Beta Readme.txt
Launcher.exe.config
parts
PaintSchemes

6.) Run JSGME (you'll find it in your game folder)
7.) Select your created folder from the left list and click the upper arrow in the middle pointing to the right
8.) Watch the bar in the lower right corner progress
9.) When it finished close JSGME and run the game

If you want to disable it again simply do the following:

1.) Run JSGME
2.) Select the patch folder from the right list
3.) Click the middle arrow pointing to the left
4.) Watch the bar progress
5.) When it finished close JSGME and run the game

That way you dont have to backup your whole game every time a new patch comes out

we lucky fellows get to test the patches before they become officiall and released via steam. beta patches, expect this patch on steam in 1 to 2 weeks.

when the steam version is available for download via steam, you will have 1 of 2 options to ensure you update correctly. 1. completely remove il2 and all associated files and reinstall or 2. verify the integrity of the game files prior to patch release. you can verify the files via the right click menu on il2 within the steam application. This will check all the files and ensure you have the correct files installed. >patch away.

however, there is a secondary folder for this game, and this folder exists within your documents area, a personal files area associated to your windows logon. its good advice to clean this and delete the content prior to patching the game. is it titled "1C Softclub".

im sure other can point out some important aspects i may have missed, obviously you may want to keep some files for e.g. your control settings files for joystick keyboard etc etc.

This is exactly how i did it!
But im afraid I might have done it into the wrong folder! :/

Currently I did it in this folder

C:\Users\Olof\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover

Well as I said, i downloaded via Steam and i was never offered an option where to I wanted to install the game so Im not really sure where thet game actually is ://
This is the only folder I find with cliffs of dover on my computer...
Im not not stupid with computers at all since I build this one myself and all but i just cant find the proper folder for the game...
Jeez

That's the problem. You have to install it to your Steam game folder. Probably it's C:\Programs\Steam\Steamapps\common\il2 cliffs of dover.

If you install the beta patch via JSGME and Steam downloads the official one, it simply overwrites the JSGME files with the official ones. You then have to go to the MODS folder and look for the JSGME config file. Open it and you should see an entry for the beta patch. Simply delete the whole content of it and save. Then head for the backup folder (a hidden one in the same folder) and delete its content too. After that JSGME thinks the beta patch has not been installed and shows it in the left list of available mods.

If you just copied the patch files into your game folder without JSGME Steam will replace the beta ones with the official ones itself. The beta files will be deleted and your game version is up to date.

Thanks,
less headache without JSGME.
