P-47 rocket tubes
In IL-2 are you able to jettison the rocket launcher tubes on the P-47 after use? If so what key command is it? Were the real pilots able to do this in WWII?
Thanks |
'Fraid they are stuck mate

and they severly effect performance.

Same is true with the WGr.21 ...

Tank buster vs. combat vehicle
Alex Vanags-Baginskis ”In August 1944 the 406 FG and other units of the Ninth AF were supplied with the 4.5 in (114mm) M-8 and M-10 one-piece ground attack/anti-tank rockets launched from triple ´bazooka`-type tubes, whish were heartily disliked by the pilots. Their main drawbacks were the already noted inaccuracy, and the fact that their launching tubes could not be jettisoned, thus impairing the performance.” Viking |
at least they are very accurate in game :D

Hence the designation”game”!
If what you state is correct, I haven’t tried the P-47 yet myself, it is different from real life. The same source:” …this type of RP and launcher combination could be used for frontal attacks against area targets but was not suitable for use against point targets, such as tanks.” Viking |
Yep, we should have HVAR's like the Hellcat and Corsair, but we don't. Because I like flying the jug so much, I don't even take rockets anymore due to the tremendous performance hit when I do. A 1000lb, 2x500lb bombs and 8x .50's will have to do.
