Is it easier to land with cockpit on?

Hi all,

Is it just me? I find it easier to land with cockpit on. Maybe it's the visual references provided?

Best Regards,
MB_Avro.

Personally I have never flown cockpit 'off',even when I first got the sim (original il2).
I tried it once but just found it so disorientating that I never looked at it again. Some people have said that it helped them develop their deflection shooting skills, and maybe they have a point, but its not for me.

When I first installed IL-2 in the beta test days the 109 cockpit was so immersive that I've flown full cockpit since then. When my old cfs2 squadm8's made the move to IL-2 they stayed with the open cockpit servers. When I tried to go back to open pit, I was totally disoriented by not having the cockpit bars for reference during heated combat. There is no way I could go back to open pits.

I agree, although I haven't flown or landed with cockpit off for a very long time. I think it is the reference with the aircraft to the ground that makes the difference.

CS. :)

I go back and forth depending on who I'm flying with. I find it equally difficult with and without cockpit. wehn landing without cockpit it is very important to use that little piper (betcha didn't know what it was for), the little piper shows the direction the plane is actually moving in, while the reticle shows where the nose is pointing, kind of an all directional AoA indicator, lol.

Never flew without a cockpit and wouldn't want to. I usually land a couple of increments back from Gunsight view and I usually land (fighters) by side-slipping to check past the nose if necessary. It's a flight sim after all.
