Since we can't have a sim, how about a game?

For me, the dcg dynamic campaigns for IL2 1946 is the most entertaining aspect of the game, although if I play it too long the short comings of it does present itself.

So since CloD is not very accurate as a sim yet, how about developing the game aspect of it whilst the sim part gets sorted? Currently I'd overlook the problems if the game itself was a bit more entertaining. I guess this is a mod wish list then for when the SDK becomes available, not sure if it would be possible... but:

Can we have a Privateer concept in the WW2/BoB setting? I'd like to buy my plane, my bombs, upgrade it in the manner I wish, buy a landing strip and upgrade it as I see fit, recruit a wingman, squadron or even buy ground forces. I want to be able to earn money for downing planes, sink ships, tanks or a successful escort mission etc...

Anyone else have similar ideas?

Only if I can have an armour-plated P-40 that can go under water like in that Sky Captain movie and only as long as they don't pork the flight models of the flying robots! Otherwise I rather they further refined the sim aspects of the game.

Cheers!

You can have your amour-plated P-40, but only if you buy the premium account from me :) Also, did you seriously watch Sky Captain? lol...

World of CloD? :-D

World of CloD, my man! Been playing WOT and it got me thinking about how much more fun it would have been as a single player game and if there was any campaigns... and preferably in the air :) In Pacific Storm in a sense you could manage almost everything on the map from research to designing and building your own ships, planes and bases. Only problem was that it sucked balls :(

Oleg didn't know much about how to make a good "game". Nor does Luthier apparently.

Oleg always thought if he just got the numbers right, the rest would somehow fall into place. I was dismayed about a year ago when in an interview at SimHQ, he was asked if he played Il-2 or the then SoW much. He said no, he had beta testers to do it for him...

Luthier asked what elements of gameplay would truly amaze us. More than 20pages of suggestions were given. Some joked about a love triangle. We got a cancelled Dgen and Spitgirl. "Trust me" Luthier said, "You guys are going to love it!"

Maddox Games badly needs a creative director.

:( What beta testers? ...
Jip, does make sense now if you see the state of the sim. In real life, I only get micro stutters like that when I had Mexican food…
Can anyone still remember Wing Commander 3? Very atmospheric and great all-round quality. In my opinion, that's how you make a game...

That and a project manager that actually knows his job.

Quite right. Good intentions are not enough.
