Visual settings not keeping settings...

I've got everything up & working fine with an acceptable but not great FPS.My problem whether I'm checked on" Cloud "or off, whaen I try to play around with my visaul settings ( esp.shadows) will not keep - they seem to go back to a sort of default setting, even when the sim says it needs to reboot to save same. I can't figure out a way to fiddle with getting roads to work or turn up or down the "default" settings. Is there something I have to do like make sure Igo turn on load in controls before going to visuals? I can get along as things are but I'd like to have the chance to fine tune a little.
Thanks!

I have a low amount of RAM, so sometimes if i'm also running other background applications the sim might crash on me if i let it restart on its own by pressing ok at that pop-up window. I have a feeling that this prevents saving the new configuration.

What i do is restart it on my own:
1) Change settings
2) Exit the sim
3) Launch the sim again

This way i have never had an issue with settings not being kept.

Still no joy-
1.) I change the settings -esp "shadows":off.
2.) I get a box saying I MUST exit game for settings to work.
3.) I say yes- auto reboot.
4.) Game starts old settings back...
Now I've tried it by manually turning off game in task manager;with Cloud off & on ,& on & off line all with the same results: nada .Could it be I've got to go into config & find shadows & other stuff & handle it there? I hestitate to do so...afterall Options settings should work...

I don't know if it's a bug or not, but I can't save my settings in another file, save as... It ask me the place where I want save it, I give the name, then nothing at all, no file is created... :|

i had this problem as well, but only one day....i dont know what solved it actually, but i had the impression that a certain combination of video settings lead to this behaviour.i think i did a new install to solve it.
