Stay alert !
Just so you don't stop being carefull about viruses, I just got hit...Worst attack of my life...infected all exe's or almost...jumped from one disk to another...anti-virus like it wasn't there...
I'm reformating my disks now, fortunately most of everything has either been backed up or is otherwise available. But the time...to set it back... Stay sharp ! Louisv |
Goes without saying to be honest.

worst virus I ever had was a replaced background which said: your computer has been infected with a virus, run a virus scan and it will be okay. But that was because I tried to download the full version of fraps...... |

Security is first utterly wiped out (Windows security essentials and firewall, all updated), then disks are prevented from copying...some executables cannot start from one directory but can from another...Disks which are accessed are then infected...Firefox shows all kinds of fake or real adds for any address you try... Maybe they'll talk about it on the news...but I didn't catch its name... This could be weapons testing...Its too professionnal for it to be just from a hacker... Its partly my fault, I ran a downloaded executable from a popup, and for the life of me I cannot remember what it was. Something I have never done before, but you know what the moral of this story is. If I remember, I will post it... |

F8 when the computer starts, go to Safe Mode with Networking, download, install and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (www.malwarebytes.or) and Spybot Search & Destroy), and you SHOULD get rid of it.
Oh, and which antivirus are you using? |
