Someone on this forum has already suggested that this has something to do with AI which is fairly logical. 1C has hired a new employee who's specialized in AI. Maybe it needs some time but it looks like there's being worked on. I hope they fix it sooner than later because it's essential for the offline campaign.

According to one of Luthier's posts, they couldn't do it in time for the latest patch because it's the field of the same guy who was working on the netcode improvements.

He said however that now that he's done with that, the radio commands menu is probably going to be his next project.

I'm more and more for this bug-reporting software solution. This has been asked about a gazillion times so it's the perfect example to why we should have such a solution.

Back on topic I agree, the radio commands are just a comm-tease for now. I am extremely excited to see what kind of AI programming we'll have in the future :D Already seen the AI-skill sliders ingame and I hope these will have a greater impact on gameplay :D Also the ability to destroy one's radio equipment will render a plane isolated from the communication. An ability to switch frequencies, and turn radio on/off would be cool seeing that a destroyed radio might just spam a lot of static noise :p

Here's hoping we see your ideas implemented Strike.

As for the radios in particular, i'd really like it if we at one point could have a realistic depiction of radio comms from that era with some sort of built-in voice comms module.

Tune the correct frequencies or preset them before take-off in the load-out/aircraft selection screens, since fighter pilots usually couldn't adjust them in flight (they just had their ground crew set 3-4 presets and switched between those, radios were heavy and cumbersome back then so they had to simplify things...no transistors yet! bombers usually had full radio functionality though), a bit of static maybe thrown in over our voices and most of all, a realistic reception/transmission range.

I don't know if we'll get something like this, but in the Br.20 there's a radio operator's station modeled with some controls, maybe it's a sign of things to come ;)
