Jerky cockpit panel at 60 FPS ?
This is a strange symptom. I consistantly get 55-60 FPS when flying over water, and the external world pans smoothly as I look around with TrackIR.
At the same time, as I look around the cockpit pans in a very jerky motion, out of sync with the rest of the environment. It's just subtle enough to drive me crazy! Has anyone else seen this? |
like I said before ...this game was not ready fore release !!

The Jerky frame may be vsync, do you have it turned on, are you running full screen or pseudo? |
vsync is turned on, so there's no tearing. Running in full screen mode.
I should make a correction, it's actually the whole frame that's jerking, not just the cockpit. But it only happens when the cockpit panel is in my FOV. Funny thing is, the FPS counter doesn't register any slowdown. |
Actually it sounds like a TIR tracking problem. Go into your TiR software and move your head around to the extents which you normally would in-cockpit. If you get occasional red dots that means something is interfering with proper tracking and will cause the symptoms you describe.
Sometimes the cause can be a reflection at a certain time of day or the glint of metal from something you're wearing but often enough it's just tracking dots that overlap each other from the cameras point of view or going off axis. In this case you may want to reposition your clip or the camera to give a better view all around or consider speedin up your profile so that you don't go past the extents of the cameras visible boundary. If it's not TIR related it could be a memory issue but hard to tell from here. They lowering your visual settings in game to test if it happens still. |
At last! Someone else with the exact same problem as me! What I see is the cockpit frame shaking. The scenery outside pans smoothly. As the OP said it's not game-breaking, just very irritating.
I'm using freetrack rather than TIR. I don't think the prob is one of the things Charvel mentioned as it all works fine in IL2. If I do obscure the LEDs, FT locks up (as you'd expect) and the shaking stops - so it is about FT. I tried Shift F1 - this stops the shaking but limits my FOV to 180 degrees - ie I can only look out at 90 deg either side of my direction of travel. The problem seems to be connected to 6doF, in particular in the Z plane. If I "lean" fully in or out, it stops - any position in between causes shaking |
Actually I've looked into the TrackIR "Heads" display and the motion is very smooth. This problem does not occur in other sims or in external view of CoD.
Just to clarify, I'm not talking about cockpit vibration. It's more like micro stutters when the cockpit panel is in my Field of View. |
Oh, OK, but it did sound like the same problem at first reading
|
Try higher filtering/smoothing (I dont remember teh name) setting for Z axis in freetrack
