Suggested Fix for U-2VS Single Mission

Another quick fix for a broken Single Mission. :)

I’ve noticed that the U-2VS mission U2-05_19420501 titled "1942 - Supply to Encircled Cavalry Corps" in the RU Single Mission folder has an incorrect Target setting.

The Timeout setting for the Recon Target used to determine player success or failure is set to 30 minutes. Unfortunately the poor old U-2VS plodding along at 110km/h takes about an hour to get to the target, so the player has no chance of being credited with mission success.

I suggest the Target text in the .mis file should be changed from 3 0 1 30 500 19909 36097 450 to 3 0 1 90 500 19909 36097 450. This will give the player 90 minutes, plenty of time to achieve mission success. Or if you think 90 minutes is giving the player too much time you could swap the 90 for 80 or even 70 probably.

Of course this change can be done by individuals without a patch. But I’ve posted here in the hope that TD can include this simple fix in a patch as I feel that is the better long term solution for these things.

You're welcome. I understand that 110 km/h cruising isn't everyone's favourite thing but I enjoy simulating history at any speed. And the feeling of having the odds stacked against you just from being in the U-2 certainly has its place in that history!

So thanks again for continuing to bring such variety into the game.

Thanks for info. I like flying the U2 single missions too, it has an interestng place in history and the missions are a flown at a different pace and more about stealth. You really get a chance to appreciate objects at ground level. Was there ever cockpit description- couldn't find one -just wondering im a noob.

I've just done some more testing on the 70/80 minute options and they're just not enough time. So best to stay with 90 minutes as originally suggested.

No guides that I know of as yet. I think the U-2 was only made flyable in 4.13.3. Maybe the upcoming 4.14 release will include something. I don't know.

She's a fun bird to fly. I must say, its quite challenging flying it at night with the harder settings. I've only managed to complete two missions so far. The ones titled 1943-Malaya Zemla, and 1941 - Attack the Ryuhovska railway station. Note... My bombs on the rail station attack must have had factory defects. ;) No Germans were harmed in that mission.
The rest of them, I just end up getting disoriented, and then once you don't know which way is up or down, the mission always ends umm... explosively.
