There’s a comment on SimHQ that’s worth reading. If I’m not mistaken, there are several issues that need to be addressed…

"When/If" the higher res VR headsets are ever released, I'll get one (maybe, two), and it'll be like the monitor wars all over again, trying to stay with the latest, biggest, highest resolutions, etc.... you know, the money, money, money thing.... And there is still a big issue with my monitor (42 inch), its not big enough. and no matter what I do, it just doesn't put me head in the game, even with the TrackIR and a CH HOTAS.... DK1 is too low of a resolution (although, almost there), but once you try one, one thing is for certian, there's no going back, monitors are (or will be soon) a thing of the past!! BTW, Daidalos Team could apply for one of the free developers units... Not that they'd get it, but you never know unless you ask. |

so it is possible, but as I understand it, not with Oculus"s official SDK, as Oculus dropped DX9 support, but again as I understand it, with the Vive SDK, it should be doable, as the Vive SDK is open and not hardware dependent, should be able to implement external support for 3D VR in IL-2 1946, for use with either headset, the Vive or CV1. Clearly this is something in which Daidalos Team has the technical skills to do. Time is another thing..... Will have to look into this further, maybe one of the talented folks of SAS could look into this also. |
