wrong steam cd-key
 

Hello,

I bought Men of War: Assault Squad (Russian version) from http://www.igromagaz.ru
(http://www.igromagaz.ru/buy_pc_games...rase_id=224774 ).

Even though its says in the product description that it can be activated directly through Steam, I was unable to do so - I get and error saying the cd-key is incorrect. I contacted Igromagaz.ru support and they assured me that they provided me with correct cd-keys (i received 3 - one for game activation, one for activation through Steam, and one for DLC), and recommended that i contact 1C support.

I tried entering all of them into Steam client through "Activate a product on Steam" option. I can assure you that there were no typing errors since i just copy-pasted those keys from email i received from Igromagaz.ru.

Moreover 2 of the keys i received have 27 characters in them and the one for DLC has 17, (in such a format: xx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx and xx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx), and to play multiplayer through Gamespy i need 16 character cd-key (same key as for Steam activation as far as i understand?).

So whats wrong with these keys then?

Do you live in Russia? Otherwise most likely you won't be able to activate it in Steam according to regional policy. Also as you bought the russian version you'd better contact Russian support (support@softclub.ru)

i dont live in Russia. but then again, while trying to activate the key throught steam , wouldnt i get an error saying "game cannnot be activated in your region" or similar, instead of "invalid cd-key"? not to mention there was nothing about regional restrictions in product description from where i bought it. plus, i assume, even Russians would have to log into Gamespy for multiplayer with 16 digit cd-key.

I only know that you can activate Russian retail version in Steam. Maybe there are some restrictions with digital one. All this answers the Russian support should provide.
