Can't change P51D's supercharger + Hat switch viewing issue

Game is updated, 4.12.2m, gotten from Steam some days ago.

In the P51D, no matter how much I press Shift+H (assigned key to Supercharger's Next Stage) and Ctrl+H (Supercharger's Previous Stage) and how high I go (even tried spawning at 10Km ALT), it simply will not change from whatever it's set to (no changes in the switches, pressure, etc.).

Also, having already switched from snap to pan view, it seems there are always predefined spots to where my view goes if I press my hat switch. For example, my view is centered on the gunsight, I press my hat switch once to look down and it focuses on the instruments. Do it again, it focuses on my seat. Always these exact same spots without smaller adjustments.
This is VERY annoying (for tracking enemies, looking at instruments away from the center of the views, etc.) and I'd like for it to be a smooth movement, just like on games such as IL2 BoS and DCS.
My mouse works wonderfully for the viewing, but I can't really use it at the same time I use my HOTAS X.

(yes, I know, I have to get around to build headtracking and get a decent camera... eventually.................)

Hi

The Merlin in the P51D had automatic supercharger cut in, this link will explain the engines performance and basic operation.

The supercharger override (break the wire) is implemented by pushing the throttle to 110% (WEP)

You can use the mouse to look around instead of the hat switch if you don't have TIR or another head tracking device.

The hat switch views can be edited in the GUI Input and can be toggled between snap back and locked using F9 and a combination of zooming in and out can cover most blind spots.

I find the mouse a better option:)

Supercharger switching is automatic in the P-51. As you climb or descend from very high, watch the manifold pressure gauge; somewhere around 4000m-5000m you'll see it jump, that's the supercharger changing stage.

I don't think it's possible to get smooth panning with the joystick hat, but maybe someone else here knows how to do this via changes to the config document. At some point I had smooth panning by using "joytokey" (http://joytokey.net/en/), which I set up to make the hat emulate the mouse. It took a few minutes to set up but it was definitely worth it until I switched to the mouse entirely for looking around.

First of all if you read all the "readme" files and manuals that come with IL2 Sturmovik and it's patches you will find all the answers there for just about everything.

Next if you have a hat-switch then all you need is to set thing so you are using snap-view. After that is done then set the hat switch so that when you push it straight-forwards nothing happens, it maintains the forward view. Lastly set a base button on your stick to "look up". Now with a combination of the "look up" button and the hat switch you can instantly snap to any view you need to and when you release the buttons the view will snap back to straight ahead.

I have been using the hat switch in this manner to fight and fly with for the last dozen years and I am still shooting down arm-fulls of track-IR users every week that are much better than ACE AI.

Here is one of my videos showing hat-switch use on a hard settings server, what am I missing? Nothing......

Thanks, Woke Up Dead, I'll try that.

That's exactly what I said I don't want.

Example of what I do want (I literally just youtube searched for "hat switch", eh): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt2mRmoA1og&t=50s
Notice how butter smooth that is? It's how I play DCS, WT, IL2 BoS, etc.
You might be used to how it is by default in IL2 1946, but I'm not and I consider it to be way less eficient. I just cannot properly see instruments which aren't on the center of the view, track players confortably, etc.
