Launcher crashes after patch! Game unusable.
 

After Steam installed the patch, I get this error from Launcher.exe every time I try to play. It's a show-stopper!

eny way to fix this ive re installed it tryed checking the integrity of the game files rebooted defraged it and nothink has worked so far this is really frustrating as it was working before the patch

specs are

xp 64 bit

i7 quadcore 3.40 ghz processor

6 gb ram and radion 4890 graphics card with 1 gb ram

My system specs:

-Windows 7 64-bit

-4 GIG Ram DDR3 PC1600

-BFG Tech BFGEGTX2801024OCE GeForce GTX 280 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

-Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Wolfdale 3.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80570E8600 (OC'd to 4 GHz)

-ASUS Rampage Extreme LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard

This seems to be a problem with .Net but I've removed and reinstalled it repeatedly. Also tried removing and reinstalling the game twice.

did you install VC 2008 ? /redist folder
under XP check Render=D3D9_0

I reinstalled everything in the redist folder multiple times and restarted the computer after each attempt. I also did check that line in the conf.ini, it was as you have written.

Heinden, with Win7 and a DX10 card you should be running the game D3D10_0
what did c:\Users\xxx\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\ say ?

I deleted the softclub folder because someone suggested it, but since the game won't launch anymore I cannot view those files.

the guy advising to do that is hanging on this forum ? who is it ?

edit : ok it was on steam forum, you shouldn't do that
