They already stated that crossfire/SLI support is number one on the list of things for the enxt patch.

Do you have to buy 2 cards to do this? Or do new cards come these days with 4 cores on one card giving the same performance?

No, I bought a 5970 which is two cores and bought one more for a total of 4

Normally, yes you do need two cards to run two cards in crossfire. Dual graphic processor(gpu) cards like the 5970 is one card but it still needs crossfire support to run both processors in crossfire mode. AFAIK, graphics cards have only one core per gpu but they are heavily threaded so basically, a graphics card can somewhat be labeled as a "multi threaded unit".

It's interesting to note that other developers are having difficulties with integrating SLI support into their sims. ROF for example are experiencing difficulties as when they increase SLI performance, single card users are disadvantaged.

Like a lot of things, you make a change here and it has detrimental repercussions elsewhere.

Cheers!
