What is the DRM on the retail version of Cliffs of Dover?

I am looking at all the places you can buy IL-2 CoD online right now and all of them seem to be STEAM keys. Even from places like GamersGate and GamesPlanet, they are all only selling the STEAM version. I can't figure out what the DRM is on the download version from UBI's own online store.

Anyway if the retail version I've got pre-ordered is STEAM only as well I will have to cancel that pre-order as soon as possible (and straight up just not buy this game at all), so please, if anyone got the disc version yet-- is it STEAM only?

Help!

I bought collecters edition which came with a disk. This was steam only, however if you have not tryed steam i recomend you do. It will make updating a breeze and if you ever loose your disk then you still own the game. Also you could go half way around the world and log into your steam account, download the game and play it. No disk required.

STEAM isn't really DRM so much as it is a MP platform. There isn't really thing insidious about it. It is a gaming community, with an MP platform, and retail platform attached to it.

The game does use the STEAM overlay and MP service, but T@GES is the DRM.

If you don't mind what are your issues with STEAM?
