Resolution/Performance
Hi all,
Have a question, having problem with the performance and have set everyting to lowest possible, no AA/AF. This is only for testing but when running in window mode I have ~60fps in 1024x768 and ~120fps in 640x480. I feel it is strange with the performance difference between the two low resolutions. When running native 1920x1080 I have on the same settings around 30fps. Is this strange or just normal, I have a feeling that last years gaming resolution has not made such a drastic impact to performance. Computer: Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.8GHz, 6GB ram and GTX285 1GB + Win7 x64 with SSD Thanks! |
Did some more testing with everything on low this time (my bad) and at 1024x768 I have ~70fps and at 640x480 ~170fps (max 250fps).
100fps difference between those two resolutions? And in 1920x1080 when looking straight up to the blue sky ~50fps and in the lowest resolution 250fps.... Perhaps this is normal but feels strange for me, thanks for any advice. |
Yeah it's normal for fps to drop when you have to render more pixels.

I mean,the higher the resolution,more GPU dependant are the frame rate,right? |
IbanezLaney: Yes, understand it will drop, but it is such a major difference between the two low resolutions.
lbuchele: Yes, looks like the gpu is the bottleneck for me. |
