Will COD be a 'no-cd' start up

Will COD be a 'no-cd' start up as 1946 was? I sure hate to risk damaging the CD/DVD by always putting it in and taking it out.

Thanks, I'm aware of that, sorry though I wasn't at the time of the first posting, aware there was an official "COD" forum. A small mistake that doesn't change the question.

I can't imagine it would require the DVD in the drive given the announced DRM. If you're going to rely on online authentication, the DVD is no longer going to be a factor in pirating (hopefully).

My copy 1946 requires a DVD to start. AFAIK its only no cd when you got a steam install or mods, which as you know is not supported.

well, we have download/digital version.....no DVD

Considering that you need a Steam account to play if it also requires a disc in the drive for boxed copies then something is very amiss.

We received many questions about the Digital Rights Management solution used in IL2 : COD. we understand it is an important subject for many of you, and we are a glad to tell you that IL2 Sturmovik: Cliff of Dover will use the SolidShield DRM solution. SolidShield features a flexible activation process and allows for up to 3 simultaneous game installs.

Please note that the game will also use the Steam platform for services such as matchmaking, anti-cheat etc… So you will need a Steam account to play the game.

Though I do have to laugh at 'Avatar'.

Hecke 03-07-2011 09:22 AM

What the hell?

We REALLY need steam no matter what version we have?

zauii 03-07-2011 10:04 AM

Seems like a fine drm, and steam is excellent anyway, but wait for the awesome oldfarts to whine:

"Daem no!, Now I can't activate 8 times on all my 10 computers at the same day, and they must have a secret agenda.. installing files on my comp `n xxxx like that" - Whiners
