Logitech G940 and Leo Bodnars BU0836

Hi everybody,

I sincearly hope that someone has solved this puzzle already. I am at my wits end.

Situation:
- Windows 7 Professional (32bits), Il-2 4.10m
- Logitech G940 Flight System
- 2 of Leo Bodnar's BU0836: One A and one X
- The G940 is modded in a way that the throttles axes and the pedals axes are not connected to the logitech controller anymore but to the BU0836X
- There's a score of simpit buttons and some simpit axes connected to the BU0836A
- The pedals do not show in "USB Game Controllers" anymore (no axes, no buttons). BU0836X, BU0836A, stick and throttle do

Problem:
This setup should result in 4 game controllers (stick, throttle, BU0836X, BU0836A) and it does - but only outside IL-2. Within IL-2 (which supports only 4 game controllers), the stick is ID1, the throttle is ID2, the nonexistent pedals hide the BU0836X and the BU0836A is ID4.

The obvious solution seemed to move the BU0836X to ID1, BU0836A to ID2, the stick to ID3 and the throttle to ID4 (and the nonexistent pedals to ID5)...

Well, no: I tried
- JoyIDs Utility: IL-2 ignores IDs switched, but keeps stick at ID1 and throttle at ID2 (and nonexistent pedals at ID3)
- USBDeview v1.85 to uninstall all USB devices, reboot, reconnect in a different order
- The "USB Game Controller", "Extended..."-Button to choose a device "for older games" (equals: "move it to the top of the list")
- I cannot find (neither in any file nor in the registry) any reference between IL-2 and Joystick sort order...

Everything has the desired effects outside IL-2 - but inside IL-2 the stick stays glued at ID1, the throttle never veries from ID2, the nonexistent pedals always hide the BU0836X and the BU0836A is permanently soldered to ID4.

(What I do at the moment: I feed the input from my BU0836s with a self-written software to IL-2s DeviceLink, which is ok, but i.e. with the rudders and the new profiles in 4.10 unsatisfactorily...)

Any ideas, anyone?

This software you need is called JoyID

I did try that, as I wrote in my post above. And as I wrote, too, that Il-2 ignores it.

The post is from February 2011. In the meantime I wrote YaDeLi, which solves this problem and those with my numerous extra boards, too.

I have a feeling that it is the G940 circuit board on throttle that is telling Il-2 that there are rudder pedals at ID3. I am about to do this mod myself so I am very interested in any information.

That's what I wrote... The pedals remain virtual existent after modding.

In the mean time I found out that this is only until you reinstall Windows. Then they're gone.

Understandable :)

YaDeLi then is the solution for IL-2 1946 (and the 5th, 6th, .... controller) - until TD does something about it.
