It's a couple of dollars more on gog.com but is pre-patched to 4.09m and comes with absolutely no DRM. Not that Steam's DRM is terribly onerous but I prefer to avoid any DRM if I can. Oh and on gog.com they state that it'll work on Vista at least ;)
