Large formations,dynamic campaign and damage?
 
I have three questions

From the recent screenshots, Im guessing that this time around we will be flying in formations with over thirty other planes rather then around six like in the first IL-2?

Has Oleg mentioned anything about a Dynamic Campaign yet?

The screenshots show varying damage to the planes so will the damage be dynamic or is just a preset animation?

Um, I think you can already fly in IL-2 with over 30 planes. Try for example DCG and chose massed bombers or something like that, and if it is not enough, make air activity or something like that maxed. For the latter option you might though need to upgrade your computer.

What does that have to do with anything?

On IL-2, there was never a mission where there was 30+ bombers let alone fighter support. Maybe 30 planes in the entire mission but not from one faction.

it may have not existed in the default game, but proviede you the tools to create such, and many did.

I haven't counted how many I have had in air but there has been tens on each side, which DOES AFFECT on FPS. Don't try it with some '60 vacuum cleaner :cool:

I have flown missions with over 60 planes on each side, no problem.

I have flown multiplayer missions with over 30 on each side no problem.

Well to be realistic I dont see any reason why there cant be hundreds of planes...
With DX11 tessalation it would not be nearly as hard on the GPU. With modern multicore cpus they should easily be able to handle large fights with hundreds of planes, I dont see any reason why they couldnt since the AI load hasnt increased a huge amount (like say Civ4-Civ5 or STW-RTW). Hopefully we will see hundreds of planes in the future if the engine is as scaleable as Oleg claims.

What I meant was in dynamic campaigns there werent large groups of aircraft. My other question hasnt been answered though. Will there be dynamic campaigns?

None of this is known so far: neither the performance impact of large number of planes and other AI objects (and what optimizations may be implemented here), nor the approach they're taking with the campaign game. There are a few remarks here and there which could be interpreted one way or the other, but in the end it's still speculation.
