Where the heck are the destruction spells?
 

Nearly level 18 and not one destruction spell yet? The only aoe spell I have is kamikaze. Jeez, just fireball would be nice!

Edit: Are there even destruction spells? I just found fireball and I see that it's chaos. My dumba$$ didn't realize there were arrows in stores for more spells!

There are three schools of spells:

1) Order
2) Distortion
3) Chaos

The spell locations are randomized, but are also based on 'spell level'. So you will find better spells at the harder islands on average, but sometimes good spells early on.

The 'destruction' skill for mages simply increases the damage of spells that deal damage.

Good early damage dealing spells:

Poison Skull
Fire Arrow
Magic PoleAxe

The mage class starts with a scroll of fireball (Save it until you can learn it!!)

All other spells you will have to find in randomish locations. A few are preset, though I don't immediately recall preset damage dealing spells.

Use your pet dragon to dig! That will often get you some spell scrolls or gold. If you are lucky you can even get runes.
