Is it me or does the game appear to be played on rails? That would be a definite negative if it were so.

Its a video, its likely to be CGI of existing gameplay. Also when making videos like that most dev's use simple scripting actions which came make the combat look "artificial" at times.

Yes, but there are obvious signs of "quicktime events". Press triangle to evade enemy and pull off insane move to suddenly become behind enemy. That is not flying skill, its just pressing a button and ultra dumbed down. Ive got to say this looks awful and makes Ace Combat 6 look like a proper PC sim in comparison.

Yeah, we'll wait until the demo comes out - 'bout the only way to tell.

HAWKS sorta looked good until I played the demo LOL.

Looks pretty cool. With my obsessive compulsive games buying habit I will end up getting it. Got to say though I am looking forward to Apache a lot more.
I don't think there is room in the Market for two arcade jet franchises. I wish they would get more imaginative like a full blown WW1 flight game like BoP or something set in Korea or the Fauklands

looks fun... not sure it will be a keeper but i'll be buying it.

I'll end up buying it because it looks good and it's got jets in it.. Then see how long it survives before it gets traded in. There's definately room for an arcade-y missile fest on my shelf.

Think it's not out till next year anyway. We'll have worked out if Apache air assault's any good by then.

I'm with you there, WWI had some really cool tech advances, especially in aviation. Plus I find the whole atmosphere of the early 1900's to be pretty interesting. Would make for a great sim game setting, but definitely not an FPS (we'd just spend whole levels waiting in trenches).:-P

But back on topic, this is quite disappointing. And I really hate to say it but at this point hawx2 is looking like the better game. Sure, it's not going to be realistic, but with carrier landings and mid air refuels it could at least be a bit more interesting than quicktime events.

Then again, all we've seen of this game is the trailer, so I'll reserve further judgement.
