SOW concerns.....

I look at the screenshots and read the release info about this long awaited title but my concern is that it will need a really high end PC and Graphics card to run.

I'm not convinced that a WW2 FS needs things like moving public transport, Big Ben that keeps time, London Bridge that opens to allow shipping through, etc. Surely this level of detail is best suited to non combat flight sims. I wish we could have some idea from the devs as to what spec machine SOW will require to incorporate all of these wonderful features............

If you want to run it on an Athlon/P3 at 800MHz with 256MB of RAM, a GF2 pro and Win 98, I think you're going to be out of luck.

Considering the engine we are using in IL2 1946 is now 9 years old... It's time to upgrade your computer.

I played the Demo of Birds of Prey which is the old engine updated to DX9 standards with all kinds enhancments to the engine and it runs Better than IL2. I wouldn't be too worried about the eye candy at the moment.

You will need the 2010(?) version of the machine that was needed to play IL2 back in 2003.

;)

I'm hoping it will run on my Intel Core Duo, 2.66Ghz, 4Gb Ram and GTS250.......otherwise I will have to stay loyal to IL1946 and WOP untill better spec machines are widely available and cheap!.....

I'm sure that you'll be able to turn SOW's eye candy down so that it'll look just like Il2, then you'll be able to run it on the same machine that runs IL2 well cranked up, but probably a bit slower. Granted this is speculation, but given Oleg&Co's track record, I believe a safe one. These guys are developing the game on lower end computers purposely to ensure the widest possible compatibility.

How many fps you get on the vid "black death", everything maxed out?

Blackdog_kt 08-06-2010 06:57 PM

Yeah, i think you'll be fine if you turn down the details a bit. ;)

SEE 08-06-2010 07:36 PM

How many Frames  How do you display FPS 'Swiss'? (no details of how to do this in the user manual).

swiss 08-06-2010 09:10 PM

shift + tab

then enter: "fps START SHOW" without quotes

fps will be displayed on top of screen

turn off: fps STOP SHOW
