Flame tanks

Flame tanks in WWII were common, more common then those heavy IS-3 and T29 tanks. Why were the flame tanks not added to the game? KV-8, Churchill Crocodile, M4 Sherman flame tank, Flammpanzers? The Allies and Axis all had their own flame tanks, but they were not added into the game. It will be really, really devasting to have one of these on the battlefield, but I would like to have these added into a mod, update, or new MoW game.

I think the japanese have one flame tank. But I am not sure. Never used it.

Korsakov829 06-01-2010 06:19 PM

They do, has flame throwers on all sides, but its a minesweeper not a tank.

well technicaly in this games they are tanks. Just not armed with a large gun but just machineguns. The fact that you can clear mines with them is more or less a nice side effect ;)

But I agree a few "pure" flamethrowing tanks like the Panzer II flamingo, KV8 and some others would be really great.

If you have used flame throwers as much as I have, like behind the rocks in Canyon or behind buildings in Urban environments, then you know how dangerous a T34 with a flamethrower on it could be. Seriously, a all killing machine made impervious to all small arms fire charging trenches, or burning buildings, camping behind rocks. Yeah it would be the most dangerous thing out in the battlefield, even more powerful then rockets. One of these things and a infantry squad could just rush forward and obliviate everything flamable. The problem with this is that the flame on the tank may be hard to implement, and it may be even more powerful then the actuatly gun on the tank. Imagine driving close to a enemy tank and shooting the engine with flame. I hope it does get in a mod at least.

Yes, they were more common then IS3s and T29s seeing how neither saw enough action to say they were in the war and the T29 never was in WWII at all. As for in mods I think the German Soldiers mods do add them, or was it Commanders of War II....I know a few mods have them.

@Crni Vuk The Japanese flame tank in the base game isnt a tank but more like a tracked sardine can w/ like 8 flamers sticking out all sides. ive not used it but ive seen it and all its devastating torchness. Id love to see some dedicated flame tanks to.

I tried to make the KV8 Flamer tank by switching files and stuff around and the Flame thrower was equipped and all but in the editor flamers dont work so I couldnt tell if it worked or not haha.

Try it with the recent patch?

KnightFandragon 06-02-2010 02:57 AM

Nope I have not tried since the recent patch, I have always used the singleplayer editor, do I have to use the outfront editor? or are both the same?

edit* just tried the Japanese SSD Flamer vehicle in the editor and the Flamethrowers make the Flamer sound but dont do anything and dont make the flame firing graphic

Korsakov829 06-02-2010 10:51 AM

If a SSD could have flame throwers on each side, it should be possible to replace the hull MG of a tank with a flame thrower.

KnightFandragon 06-03-2010 01:34 AM

I put the flamethrower in the KV1's CoAxial spot and in the editor it makes the sound of the Flamethrower and the ammo in the fuel can goes down but the gun port just flashes like its firing a bullet and nothing happens. Maybe it works only in game or something or MP
