Menu, and game error

Well i just got this game and i'm trying to play it...
the game starts ok until it hit's the menu screen which is grey in the background and all the icons are a blurry mess...ignoring that fact i tried playing the game, so it starts loading and when it finaly finishes it freezes...the n i have to restart my pc

my specs are..

windows xp, service pack 2
Pentium 4 3.0ghz
1gb Ram DDR1
Nvidea Geforce 7600 gt

ps: Maybe it has something to do with the fact that i'm using SP2 and not 3, but i wanna be sure before i update...(when i update it f***** up my pc)

Windows XP SP3 includes performance improvements and Stickman Hook bug fixes that may help with compatibility and stability. Ensure your NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT drivers are up-to-date for optimal performance. If possible, reduce the in-game graphics settings to see if that resolves the blurriness and freezing. Try running the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2.
