Video card
 

Hi all.

Well it is that time again when I need to think about updating my video card. I would really like to hear what some of you might recommend. I currently have an Nvidia Geforce 7950GT. I will need to make sure it is PCI Express 2.0X16.
What is available nowadays for this setup? If my wife doesn't buy another pair of shoes, I should be able to spend around $200. Like to hear your thoughts.

NVidia 9800GTX/250, 260.

Ati 4850/4870, maby a used 4890 (massive uppgrade for the money, u should be able to get a slightly used one for arround $160-170 )


All cards can run most games on high or max.


P.S. 4890 really isnt in the same cathegory as the rest but are u considering used cards that would be a good bet. Was inches away from uppgrading from my 9800GTX to the 4890 a couple of weeks ago but my hous decided it needed a new waterpump :( $2500 down the drain, litterally :(

Next question is where do purchase used ones from? Ebay?

I usually look arround on local/nationwide pc markets or generall buy and sell places. Live in sweden though so if something is at fault its a bit easier to return it the closer the seller is.

Never used Ebay myselfe.


As for pc specs, i have a E8500 and a 620W psu. Make sure u dont need to uppgrade those as well, especially if u considering a 4890.

Remember, im by no means a pc expert. ;)

with a 5850 XXX will be fine to run SOW???
