Whats Deadzone?

im getting an AV8r stick for christmas and everyone is going on about this deadzone

It's a small area around the stick in which you can move it, without having any effect.
E.g. when the deadzone is 5 mm wide, and you move the stick 3mm to any side, nothing will happen. If you move it 6 mm to the right, you'll start to notice effect.
