they made same mistake w/ fw-190 that they did w/ p51D?
most agree that the p-51D isn't as good as it should be, and it should be fixed in a patch....
but i think the same might be true with the fw-190 series. granted, the fw-190-D9 and ta-152 were designed for high altitude, and won't handle as well as most other planes BUT... the other fw-190s (F-8 and A-5) also get out-turned waaaaaay too easy. they roll and accelerate great, but in the time it takes most planes make a 180 degree turn, the fw-190s have barely completed 90 degrees. another example: i was in a dogfight above the clouds, and just before i passed thru them i was going straight down, but as soon as i broke thru the coulds, i decided to pull up, (the weather was poor), but despite by best efforts, i JUST BARELY AVOIDED HITTING THE GROUND. my fw-190 was pulling up THAT BAD... EVEN THO I WAS PLAYING ON ARCADE!! now in case you're wondering why i bother using these planes, i'm tring to unlock the ta-152 (100 kills required) as well as bombs for the fw-190 F-8 (20 wins in dogfight or team battle required) the only way i can get kills is by charging head on (pretty much suicide), or try to dogfight, but have people .2 kms in front of you (smoking) but you can't quite get your aimer in the target x and finish them off (SO INFURIATING) anyone esle share my struggle? |
Well first off, FW-190s were not known to be good at turning. Their deal was that they could get into a turn quicker by rolling. So I would say the A5 is accurate like that as you do have to roll into a turn.

I simply dont believe for a second that german pilots flew this POS (basing this on the game) into battle and thought it was any good. The fact is that if you get an enemy on your tail you are finished , and having played many matches with the plane it doesnt matter what you do , after that first pass you are finished because the plane simply turns around to intercept you even if you came in from a dive and have airspeed. They need to fix the plane badly just like the p51 |
I think the original poster is most likely right, when he states that the FW is also not totally correct.
I quote something what a dev said on the other forum, regarding the P-51 issues: So last updates: we have found some issues, that were indeed in the game. Long story how it happend, but it is fixed. Also, good guess from you, guys, helped us to increase performance of P51 - it has full fuel tanks, and this decreased it performance. He says there were some issues in the game that they now fixed. AND the P-51 has full full tanks. since the fuel tanks are mentioned after an ALSO, it indicates that there was more wrong than just that. 'the issue in the game' this 'issue in the game' could very well affect more planes. And maybe the fuel problem of the P-51, is also in other planes. Anyways, apart from all this, I think the best 'evidence' that the FW190 is not correct is this (quote a dev again): All flight models were taken from PC IL-2. the FW190 flies way different (better!) in the PC IL-2 game. Since the FW190 flies different in this game, it means that there is a variable, that affects the FW190. decreasing its performance. so i think this will be fixed when they fix the thing that affected the P-51. the difference I notice between the PC IL-2 and BOP: planes like the P-51 and FW190 (and more BnZ planes), really lack the acceleration, and performance at 'higher altitudes'. In IL-2 you could really boom and zooooom, in BOP, you do not have the performance required for the zoom. chasing a Fw190 in IL-2 would be pointless, chasing a FW190 in bop, has a high chance of succes. it is faster then most planes, but just slightly, and it accelerates so slow, that the target plane has almost 30sec to shoot the passing 190 in its 'zoom' hope this was kind of clear :P and helpfull |

I don't really fly it, but it is a fun plane to fly against a MkIX with. I've had three successful kills with the 190A5 against MkIXs. And they were Online as well. But I do agree, the 190 does need some fixing up, but it doesn't seem to need as much as the P51 which is just a PIG! |

can you have different sensitivity settings for different planes, or is it just one setting for all planes? |

sorry soviet, but the FW190 is really not performing like it should. and 'Well going up against it in Training', doesnt prove anything. The AI enemys have many advantages. put a P-51 enemy in training, and it will turn like a snake, and fly like a rocket. try to do it yourself.. and epic fail. But I am pretty convinced, that it will be fixed allong with the P-51 fix. there is just something in BOP, that holds back performance.maybe it affects all planes, but it is best noticed in the 'fast' planes, and the ones you want should use for BnZ The stall/spin occurs in the FW190 and P-51 wayyy to fast. you cant turn like you should be able to, not even when you have a lot of speed. prob the FW190 is also loaded with fuel, or something. It just flies like a freight train |

I have never been shot down by a 190 (99% sure bout that), and shot down at least 20. when I see one, I go 'yes, easy target'. even if it is someone who knows how to fly it. They can outrun me, but then I just pick another target till he comes back, and then he is dead anyways. He just cant outrun me with the speed it should (I fly spit IX). he booms, zooms, and I boooooooom. he cant run fast enough, and cant turn. After some fix, I would like to go 'hmm, a 190, I need to watch my moves and keep an eye one him'. after all, it is the most advanced piston of the germans. |
