So the trigger on my Aviator joystick broke after just a week of use...

With the outrageous price of most 360 peripherals picking this joystick up for $40 dollars felt like a steal, in theory. Then I got home and realized the rudder twist input was off by a degree or two at rest. This problem is amplified when paired with a few of the planes with squirrely flight models that throw the plane into a seizure with even slight rudder inputs in tight turns.

Now my trigger broken, and I'm not sure it's worth tearing it apart only to find a broken piece of plastic or something similarly unrepairable.

Still, it was a fun week. Paired with some of the planes with more stable flight models the control is solid and the aerial gunnery is terrific fun... and quite reminiscent of the good times I had with the PC version a couple of years ago.

cliffs:

Fine joystick when it's working, but the build is extremely cheap. Keep your receipt!

I agree, it's very cheaply built. Mine isn't broken, but I went back to the controller anyway. After the update I'll try it again, but I just don't like this cheap stick.

Lincon i found this bit of info on a review site so i cut and pasted it for you hope it helps mate

My Aviator flight stick’s trigger broke only the second time I used it. Yeah, I was upset. I was in the middle of blasting some tanks in Ace Combat 6 and suddenly the machine gun stopped firing. At first, I assumed it had run out of bullets or jammed… but then I realized that neither of those things happen in the game. Then I heard a rattling noise when moving the joystick around and knew something was wrong.

So I busted out a screwdriver and four screws later my brand-new joystick was in multiple pieces and I was staring at the circuitry inside. I quickly noticed that the trigger mechanism was nothing more than a small spring which was supposed to press against a small metal tab that would, in turn, press against a tiny blue button. The problem was that the metal tab had come loose and was clanging around inside the joystick. I snapped the metal tab back into place, put it all back together again, and all is well again. I hope that it doesn’t come loose again.

Very helpful, but a bit of advice, but before you try this; if you have the receipt, I highly recommend you try to return it first. Reason being, some retailers can be a bit sticky about a return if it looks like you tried to make some unautherized repairs or mods. I know, I work for one. Just a heads up folks.

have you tried being gentle with it?

I've had mine for 4 months with no problems, I got it around the same time as HAWX came out.

the only reason i ever use the controller is if i need to land e.g. playing capture the airfield, because i need the wheel brakes.

im sorry you guys have had trouble with it, try not to be so rough with it. it's not the best but for £30.

I wouldn't say I'm rough with it per say.. But damn it if a spitfire suddenly comes stall spinning into my crosshairs from point blank range if I can't keep the kid in me from mashing the trigger button down a little harder than I should.
