http://www.richard-seaman.com/Aircra...dNineONine.jpg Friends of P-51 Mustang Purist Club Hello Bomber Pilots and German Airplane Enthusiasts, Many of you may have heard of the P-51 Mustang Purist Club before or may have read about it on this forum. We are a group of people who like to fly the P-51 Mustang and other planes in cockpit view and with the most difficult settings made possible by the game - with full sensitivity on elevators and ailerons and without HUD. Until now, we have flown the same aircraft models against each other in our club games, which seems best to level out the enourmous differences in aircraft performances and where the skill of the pilot comes out best. However after some trials we established that a skilled pilot in a P-51 under our Club rules (full sensitivity, etc.) can stand a fair chance against German planes, and be an effective escort for Allied bombers. Therefore we want to expand the scope of our club. If you like to fly Bombers and/or German planes in SIM on PS3 and would like to take us on, or be escorted by the P-51 Mustang Purist Club, you can now do so and join Friends of P-51 Mustang Purist Club. Everyone who is not yet member of the P-51 Mustang Club can apply. For all games of the P-51 Mustang Purist Club vs. Friends, the following rules apply: - SIM only - limited Fuel and Ammo - who dies less, wins - P-51 Mustang Purist Club Members fly mainly the P51-D5 or -B, but may also fly other allied planes with cockpits, bombers and German planes if needed - P-51 Mustang Purist Club Members will fly with the usual Club rules, i.e. Cockpit only, full sensitivity, no HUD* - Friends of P-51 Mustang Purist Club fly German fighters and bombers, or Allied bombers - Friends can configure their German planes or Allied bombers in any way they like, i.e. sensitivity, HUD - however Friends are encouraged to chose as high a sensitivity setting as possible** Information on Games and Special Games can be found on this thread, or on the P-51 Mustang Purist Club Thread. The lastest version of the rules, and members lists will be maintained on the first posting of this thread, so come back and check for changes frequently. To join, reply either here or on the P-51 Mustang Purist Club Thread, or contact me either via PM or per PSN message. Looking forward to exciting battles in the skies of Europe! MACADEMIC Friends of P-51 Mustang Purist Club members list as of 10/03/2011: - GILLYBADMUTHA - Chowbird2 - McKinneyJD - Er-macina - howzmidyktzt - Ratman91101 - QBlackDeathQ - U2RATTLEHUM - GA_JUSTICE - JOED70 - skidlo42 - Fight-test - Hrok81 - dkwookie - draux - JRHOODY1 - Zhang_Mei - Hicks-81 .......................... Special Club game: AERIAL BATTLES - P-51 MUSTANG PURIST CLUB AGAINST LUFTWAFFE The Aerial Battles are played in Strike Mode. Ground targets must not be attacked. Sole purpose of the game is to establish Air Superiority by counting fewer casualties than the enemy. The game is played on three maps: Britain, Bulge and Berlin. See post #31 for details. * In case a P-51 Mustang Purist Club member needs or wishes to side with Friends or to fly a German plane, he will fly with full sensitivity. ** For those who use the PAD and want to fly with full sensitivity, a custom layout is highly recommended. Information on how to customize the PAD can be found here. |

Guilty as charged...
http://www.richard-seaman.com/Aircra...09e2oClock.jpg
Never mind the dramatic headline, no one's really charged me but myself. Last night, in order to test a new game idea by tommykocher, I've flown a Focke Wulf 190-D9 (something I usually never do) under my normal settings (and the ones which I asked Friends to take up as well) and realized that it just doesn't make sense to fly a plane without a cockpit with a disabled HUD. No chance to read altitude, airspeed and thrust setting anywhere. Very obvious when you think of it, which I didn't. Sorry. So, with immediate effect, it's becoming quite easy to join Friends of P-51 Mustang Purist Club. All that's required is that you like to fly German fighters and bombers and fly against the P-51 Mustang Purist Club in Club games. No need to change any of your settings, the only rules you will need to accept are SIM, limited fuel/ammo and 'who dies less wins' when taking on the P-51 Mustang Purist Club. Flying at a higher sensitivity than you normally would is not required but is encouraged. Looking forward to good games! MAC |
First Friend Announced
Happy to announce the first member of Friends of P-51 Mustang Purist Club:
Gilly Gilly (PSN: GILLYBADMUTHA) is a bomber ace who offers to fly any bomber as required. His field of expertise is more with the B-17, but he'll fly the German bombers as well when required. Thanks Gilly for joining. Hope some of your many friends will follow. MAC |
Making Friends More Open
Hello all,
With the joining of Gilly I decided to drop the restriction of Friends being limited to flying only German planes and bombers. As of now, also allied bomber pilots can join. The reason is that this will give the P-51 Mustang Purist Club members great opportunities to fulfill one of their primary missions - bomber escort. Can't wait to work together with some of you experienced B-17 bombers. See you soon. MAC |
those are awesome pics....

Very happy to welcome McQ59 as a new member of Friends of P-51 Mustang Purist Club!
By the way McQ59, it is not necessary for you to fly the German planes in full sensitivity - only if you wish! Looking forward to seeing you soon! MAC |
Thanks Macademic. I'm honored to fly with you guys.
The main issue here is to stay in the skies I guess... |

However, since you are already a member of the P-51 Mustang Purist Club, you can't be a member of Friends of the P-51 Mustang Purist Club. But, the good news is, you can now fly also German planes in Club games, the only difference to a 'Friend' being that you'll commit to flying it in full sensitivity, which by the way is awesome with the Pad and Custom settings on the whole Bf109 series. Ciao Ciao, MAC |

http://www.airartcsbailey.com/files/...-vs-P-51-B.jpg
Dear all, I'm happy to announce a new Special Club game: AERIAL BATTLES - P-51 MUSTANG PURIST CLUB AGAINST LUFTWAFFE It has taken some time to evaluate scenarios and possible adversaries. This has been necessary to balance out the disadvantages we're carrying with our Mustangs and Club Rules (but HUD allowed) versus opponents who fly with HUD, virtual cockpit and any sensitivity they wish. While the Aerial Battles are not necessarily going to be historically accurate (types of airplanes flying against each other), we're limiting the maps to at least introduce a certain feel of historicity. I would like to thank everybody who participated in the evaluations, special thanks to tommykocher and swoop117 for their time and dedication. The Aerial Battles are played in Strike Mode. Ground targets must not be attacked. Sole purpose of the game is to establish Air Superiority by counting fewer casualties than the enemy. The game is played on three maps: Britain, Bulge and Berlin. Winner is, who at the end of the game has suffered fewer casualties. Points are not taken into consideration. Game Mode: Strike Maps: Britain, Bulge, Berlin Duration: 20 minutes Time of Day: Any Weather: Any Points: Maximum Fuel and Ammo: Limited Respawn Time: 15 seconds Minimum Number of Players: 2 Maximum Number of Players: 10, but may be higher as long as there is not too much lag Team A: - Members of the P-51 Mustang Purist Club - Allowable Airplane Types: P-51 B, P-51 D5 - Club Rules, but HUD allowed Team B: - Friends of P-51 Mustang Purist Club, Members of P-51 Mustang Purist Club - Allowable Airplane Types: Bf109 E-3, FW190 A-5, FW190 F-8, FW190 D-9, TA-152 - Limitations: none, except that Members of the P-51 Mustang Purist Club who fly with Team B have to fly with full sensitivity Ideally both teams would have the same number of players, however a difference of 1 is acceptable. It seems possible to expand the maps and allowable airplanes later on, but for now let's keep it simple like this. It is my hope that the P-51 Mustang Purist Club will learn to cope with the disadvantages inherent in this game by increasing their tactical and teamworking skills. As usual, the game should be started from the Chat room to ensure that the game is set up for the correct number of participants and only invited players enter the game room. One last thing: we need more Friends to make this game a success. If you know anybody who would like to fly the available German planes against us, please invite them to become Friends by replying either here, on the Friends thread, or by sending me a PM or a message on the Playstation Network. Looking forward to exciting Aerial Battles! MAC |
Nice Macademic.
When do you think we could try to set this up? I have a connection that can host at least 12 without any lag at all. 14 can be possible. |
More Friends needed!
Hello all,
If you would be interested in flying German planes against the P-51 Mustang Purist Club, please join Friends of P-51 Mustang Purist Club. We have one Special Club game out already and more to come. Not much is required of you, except that you will be limited to the airplane types as stipulated in the game rules. Other than that, you can chose your own settings. So please come and join, and recommend joining to your friends. MAC |

As to when we can start playing, not sure, we're still quite short of Friends although maybe now that a game is out we can attract more to join. I will be on tonight as of around 22 Central European Summer Time. Hope to see you soon! MAC |
Quote:
The E-3 is completely out of it's time period facing off against either of the p51s This is not a criticism, i just wonder of the fairness of these matchups. |
I'll most likely be on tonight same time. Just put up a chatroom and invite. That way we can say hello - and maybe sort out if it's possible to set up a mission this weekend.

I saw you dancing at 2 am, saturday the 11 of july in Gillys tent at that campsite at Duxford. Or were you trying to get out of the tent to take a leak ? I cant quite remember, but it sure looked kinda like dancing........... |
Quote:
No we're not skipping the bombers and escort missions, the Aerial Battles are just the first of hopefully many more games to come, will create some missions that will involve bombers and other airplanes (not dissimilar to the bombing runs according to Gilly). We chose the Aerial Battles as the first game to build up a good number of Jerry pilots for future games. How's the E3 doing? Keep dancing mate ;-) MAC |
Much oblige Mac. It was my first trip in the E3 in sim. It performed surprisingly well actually. I knew from beforehand that it is a very manouverable plane, but it surprised me positivly in sim by being a very good bomb-knocker too. Just used it for one mission though, but I will deff be comfortable with it to try it out agains the P51's. And propably get burned... But it's a great dancer - maybe for a slow-fox ;-)
As Gilly has mentioned to you, we have done quite a few bombruns with escort on different maps. To bomb the Red October outside Stalingrad or The Reichstag in Berlin has been great missions. As far as I know, the ticketcounter don't registrate hits on those targets - but I wouldn't swear on it. It's a thing Gilly would know I guess... His The Bomber. |
Quote:
Correct mate. If done in any scenario- TB, strike then bombing other targets doesn't effect ticket count. |

Introducing Club Rules 'Light'
Dear Friends,
In order to use the positive momentum the tournament has created and promote the more challenging ways of flying, I'd like to introduce a new version of the Club Rules which should make it easier for Friends and outsiders to find their way into the cockpits: Club Rules 'Light' (CRL) - Cockpit Only - No HUD - Who dies less wins - Limited Fuel/Ammo Own discrection on sensitivity settings. When setting up a game under CRL, it's easiest to start the game from the text chat with everyone who wants to play like this, or send PSN messages to those in a room to confirm CRL are in force. Happy 'light' Club Rules flying! MAC |
That's more like it MAC! Now it's at least possible to keep that crate flying :-)
I'm crawling in under the canopy. |

But here are your marching orders: you are hereby being transferred to the P-51 Mustang Purist Club. But don't worry. You can fly Club Rules Light there in games designated as such. MAC |
