I got this item in-game and its stats are like in the screenshot:
+3 Defense
+5% Health of creatures of level 3 and 4
only i can't really tell if the 5% part it's working right, if the blue stats are the original ones:

In first picture you have original 160HP stats , after you put on armor you have new 168HP (it`s 5% more then before). So in battle your demonolog will have 168HP. That`s it, i dont get what dont you understand ?

And i like your paladin class Amelie with Higher magic skill available, subtle :-P

If the original stats are in blue, shouldn't it be 168[white] (160) [blue] ? It being 160 [red] 168 [blue] is what confuses me.

And yes well, as a paladin, Amelie is guided by a Higher Power, isn't she? *wink*

Red is minimal stats, in battle you`ll have 168 hp. If you played red sands mod there units have individual exp and when gaining lvls can get bonus HP among other stats. There also outside of combat basic HP is red, and next to it is blue basic+bonus HP.

In case of this item blue is permanent value of stats, and red current just like you have buff/debuff spell green/red is temporary value of some stats (when you cast haste speed is green basic+bonus from spell value . . . ). So no need to worry in combat bonus HP will work no problems.
