Movie Missions

I see some great historical match ideas on the forum. It got me thinking if we could come up with some film related ones. Not Battle Of Britain as that's too obvious.
I was thinking, as an example, a covert HE111 landing at Manston with 109 cover to pick up Churchill who has been kidnapped in The Eagle Has Landed. HE has to park up while the German paras get to the field. Spits get the alert at Hawkinge and have to destroy the HE before Churchill is loaded. Some kind of time limit for the HE on the deck.

Any other ideas?

hmmm cool idea dk....will have to think. dambusters would be cool if you could figure out a decent map....would have to sub a 17 for the lancs tho.

Yeah I was thinking of Dambusters Bobby. Ardenne valley makes a nice low level run but not sure about a target down there. I am sure A Bridge Too Far is doable for some bridge bombing on Berlin map too

Cool idea!

I have one too, not exactly out of a film, but might as well be!

'Operation Südsee'

In the last days of the Third Reich, Hitler is bunkered in his his 'Führerbunker' in Berlin, while the whole city is surrounded. His only chance of escape is to hop on a Fieseler Storch as a passenger and somehow make it out of the city and to an U-Boot awaiting him to take him to an island in the South Pacific. Since the Luftwaffe is much too weak to guarantee his safety during the aerial escape, all they can do is divert attention away from the little plane that comes in to land on a Berlin street to take on its notorious passenger and take off again.

Before the operation can take place, NKVD (predecessor to the KGB) however intercepts a radio transmission and puts VVS on high alert. Can the VVS prevent Hitler's escape?

For this mission, I suggest to replace the Fieseler Storch with an I-153. The German side should find a location in the city where the Storch can land, ideally close to the historical location (this should previously be trained). The precise location has to remain secret for the VVS.

The VVS should already be airborne over the city. The Germans position their forces on the edges of the map at a location of their choice. They will notify via text chat when the Fieseler Storch is setting itself in motion toward the city (again this would be an intercepted radio call). The VVS doesn't know exactly when or where the Storch is trying to sneak in, they only know the objective. Stalin has made it clear that the pilots who would let Hitler slip from his grip would be sent on prolonged leave to Siberia.

Time of day and weather should be challenging. VVS should have the dominance in the air. No map, no HUD, no time limit should make this a really interesting mission.

The Germans succeed if the Storch can land undetected, pick up Hitler and sneak out of the city to reach the end of the map. VVS wins if they shoot down the Storch at any time before that.

Sorry this got long, got carried away.

:)

How about the doolittle raid?

Instead of Mitchells though, use the A20's?

Instead of a carrier, use the furthest point possible in France, so that you have the biggest amount of ocean to fly over. Make the target an airfield somewhere, and make it a low level raid.

Have others land any plane with AI gunners, B17, HE111 etc at the target airfield, they are actinas the AAA :)

Could work....

Can you land in france? If you could, it could be interesting to see who can get there and make it back again with gaping holes in their wings and limping along with damaged aircraft. its a pity this doesn't have a multiplayer map maker as this would be briliant - so you dont have to worry about the "AAA" getting bored on the ground; but thats a different story.

Maybe there are some people who wouldn't mind taking turns to fly there and back, swapping with the "AAA" at each end of the match. Might do some channel crossings tonight to see if I can work out if there is an airfeild that we can reach but getting back may be a bit tricky?

yeah you can land in france! just dont go straight over or you get bounced back into "battlefield". head up towards belgium and you will see the cliffs. actually nice fields for landing. we did this as a beach party ( free flight ) and had a ball. its really too bad we dont have anything to mimic a mossie. the 633 squadron movie would be awesome to try.

Some great ideas here. It makes me wish we had one of those Machinma things for the game to edit a replay into a short film, like those ones the PC guys have done for the original IL
