Paymaster Quest

Hi All,

Having trouble with the Paymaster quest - I get to the point where you have to return to the pirate station to "payback" the Paymaster. I arrive, the Paymaster does his "gasp, you're back", a fight breaks out, the MSF arrive, the pirate fighters are shot down, the quest fails.

What am I missing here? Reading the boards, it seems as though transports are meant to spawn, I am not seeing these at all. Tried a couple of different things - attacking the pirate base (seems to do nothing), attacking the MSF (they ignore my attacks), flying away from the combat and searching the sector (can't find anything).

Any ideas? Thanks very much.

Cheers,
TGHO

Yeah, some quest scripts are more prone to breakage than others.

Here's the sequence:
Get 'avenge on Bursar' quest.
Return to station.
'gasp, you're alive.'
Once the pirate guards are dead, Ternie warns that more are coming.
They spawn and start approaching.
MSF spawn and talk.
Fight.
Fail 'avenge' quest. This is intended.
When the last pirate dies, you're supposed to get a piece of dialogue with the MSF captain and then the quest continues.

This is where it breaks.
If the pirates are all dead and you haven't gotten the dialogue, load and try again.

The second time usually works for me.

(FYI, the other place the quest breaks is if you kill all the spawned pirates before Paymaster finishes his rant (easy to do with a pair of torpedoes), as the MSF won't trigger.)

Ah, I didn't realise you were meant to fail that section of the quest. It worked when I followed it through - thanks very much Sing_In_Silence.

Cheers,
