PS3 Aviator users!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since I am at work and cannot try this can someone switch to mode two on the Stick and see if all the buttons work the same as they do in mode 1 saitek said that the twist of the stick will be analog in mode two and digital in mode one and layout should be the same.

This is their e-mail from them.

Hi Tim,

I forwarded this to one of the product managers directly from Saitek, and this was their response:

The twist is digital in Mode 1, but it's analog in Mode 2. This is because there's no set specification for stick layouts on PS3, whereas there is on Xbox 360; therefore what we had to do was configure the stick so that it matched the control layout for the major games available at the time - these were Tom Clancy's HAWX and Blazing Angels.

If the customer switches to Mode 2 then they will find that they'll get an analog response, as well as the fact that the buttons will then all be correctly assigned!

If they're in any doubt that the twist is analog in this mode then they simply need to connect it to a Windows PC and test it in Game Controllers where they will see that there is an analog response in Mode 2.

Hope this helps.

Tested in training mode with JU87, 40GB PS3 & AV8R-03

Mode 2 switches buttons around depending on the input configuration selected in the game.
The rudder is analog in mode 2 WHEN in Thrustmaster 1 configuration, however the buttons not have their "face value/function". In Aviator configuration with mode 2 on the rudder controll is still digital as rudder left is X and rudder right is SQUARE, R2 lever controlls POV view UP/DOWN and stick's twist controlls POV view sideways RIGHT/LEFT (analog).

I just had my GF try it out, and she says it works A LOT better. I guess now, she's at home playing around with the controls, rather than just the game pad? Sadly, the hours always pass slow at work :(

For me I would say that gamepad is still better, the good news would be that this could be easly patched with an Aviator Mode 2 in the configuration screen.

well from the wildly excited tone and shouts of joy, she yelled into my ear. I'm thinking it works better than a gamepad? But maybe it's just her, I'll have to try it when I'm off.

Yeah, it is just the button switching that messed me up, you may do better

** EDIT **
GOOD NEWS http://forum.yuplay.com/index.php?showtopic=49 Admin on their board there says mode 2 will be in the upcoming patch

Ok, I just finished trying out the new configuration. And I think it works well. I had to get used to the quick button changes a bit, but I've already got a handle on it. I think it works good?

I am seems to be best way so far for me, but as i mentioned in the ps3 flight stick post you dont have your full "look" range on the hat, squadron commands are lost somewhere, etc. but for me this will do until the update.

So I guess this works for the putting the rudder in analog. Does the hat switch stay the same or does it change to the Thrustmaster 12, 3, and 9 o clock views?
