We had something similar yesterday on sim mode (strike). A Guy from my Friendlist and myself played the axis side with 109/Ju 87 vs. UK Players.
Too bad not more players joined the fight, but we had our own little private war :-). |
Yeah it was done a few days ago, it was pretty successful, and great fun. Spits vs 109s over Dover

I would love to take part in a pre-arranged meeting but would not want to have to go against some one just because they are from a certain country. I too have a bit of problem with that.
|
Yeah. That's the kind of thing that restarts wars

But then i dont think ive met one person on xbox live who wouldnt join the fourth reich if they got the chance. All i seem to hear is 'lets kill the jews/queers/blacks' [delete as apropriate] ******* scum. |
Well I'm not sure that it would start a war, but there are some weird people in any hobby/interest group.

Jesus, you wet blankets. Who gives a crap, everyone's worried about being PC.
No one mentioned anything untoward except for the do-gooders. If both teams are up for it then it's clearly not a problem, Germans might want to fly 109s, Brits might wanna fly Spits, as long as everyone has fun why does it matter? Trust the 'PC brigade' to bring up nasty undercurrents to something fun. |

Anyways, (still some-what off topic) I was wondering if anyone has tried the following in an Axis-Vs-Allies match: Flying for the Allies with your gear down to attempt to pass off as a Stuka? Obviously it would only work in Sim mode, and could go both ways. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it and how well it worked.

No im not a nazi sympathiser, just posting a reminder that war is not that black and white. And yes I realise it's just a game. |
Look you lot must be in the wrong thread i asked if some former axis countries preferably germans would like to get into their 109s and fly in realistic mode . For fun and thats it till the PC fun police showed up ....how about we get a team of Brits and half talk wit ze german accentz...go peddle your crap in another thread if your not to busy pushing whales back out to sea.
Here take your pick maybe The Royal Air Force roll of honour for the Battle of Britain recognises 595 non-British pilots (out of 2,936) as flying at least one authorised operational sortie with an eligible unit of the RAF or Fleet Air Arm between 10 July and 31 October, 1940.These included 145 Poles, 127 New Zealanders, 112 Canadians, 88 Czechoslovakians, 28 Belgians, 32 Australians, 25 South Africans, 13 French, 7 American, 10 Irish, and one each from Jamaica, the British Mandate of Palestine, and Southern Rhodesia. (Diverse enough for you) Axis An element of the Italian Royal Air Force (Regia Aeronautica) called the Italian Air Corps (Corpo Aereo Italiano or CAI) first saw action in late October 1940. It took part in the latter stages of the battle, but achieved limited success. The unit was redeployed in early 1941. Anyway im over the idea now |
I actually think if a group of people from Germany and a group of people from England are willing to get into virtual planes and have fun together it's a sign of how far we've all come in a world made possible by the sacrifices of those that fought in the real war.
It's obvious to all but the most knee-jerking PC freaks that wanting to play against real Germans or real English is nothing even closely resembling racism. |

I just re-read my post above and it didnt come out the way i intended. |

I assume that dropping your wheels was a real tactic used by the allies? One thing the annoys me a bit is the mishmash of aircraft and so your team mates maybe in a stuka and your flying a spitfire .... Does realistic mode only allow relevant aircraft for each side ie no mishmash?
|
l don't know about as an actual tactic, but l thought about it when l was having a hard time lDing friendlies in the demo.

can I suggest that some people would have the issue that he mentioned it would be good to shoot Real Germans...its that point at which gaming and reality begin to blur...its like the nightvision goggles given with MW2- a game in which you wear nightvision in order to slit the throats of various ethnics... thats the bit thats possibly daunts people. Personally I am totally in agreement with the earlier post regarding how we can PLAY a GAME against people from a country that was mortal foe in living memory...how far we've come that we can PLAY a GAME together despite acknowledging a difficult past. Now if we can get a COD4 tournament between the Palestinians and Israelis there might be hope for peace...thats if Avigdor Liebermann doesn't start camping and noobtubing everyone. signed, a pommy bastard in the land of skippys and wogs.. ________ Captiva |
