hornets nest
 

hi im a newbie on this site................

Can anyone help? I have read several ways on how to complete "hornets nest" however no matter how many times i try or how many i shoot down.... it still says i fail!!!!! Is there a way of distinguishing which are the transports so I know im shooting the right ones down! I don't wanna give up, but if i cant do this then i will have no choice!!!:(

As soon as the mission starts, head for the yellow on your radar and attack that squadron and then as soon as you've done them in, head to the next a.s.a.p. and so on. You should not have a prob. I had a tough time on this level also but i wasted time shooting spotlight which allowed the enemy to get to the base soon then i could eliminate them all. So i tried what i explained earlier and beat it the first try. After you defeat the squadrons you'll be ask to take out some guns or lights (i 4get which) but head immediatley to the location and b4 you get to close start firing missles and you'll be done.

IF you're having trouble shooting them down in time, dive in really close and use a rocket. This is probably an extremely unrealistic tactic but it worked for me every time!

Hey guys thanks for the help........ did what you said Mad dawg and it seemed to be going ok...... However I think my game crashed coz it appeared to have another wave of bombers but they just weren't getting onto the map! So instead of failing I was just flying round for ages with nothing left to shoot at, but on objective it said i hadn't shot them all down:(. Will be giving it another go soon tho..

When you nticed the last wave of bombers did you fly towards them and they still would not enter into the map area ? This is the only level/mission on this game that crashed my 360. i was trying my umteen attempt and when the mission started i was launching some missles into the first spotlight i came across while flying towards the bombers on the map and as the first missile struck the target, i got a pop-up window reading that an error had occured and had to restart.

Good luck on completing this mission pilot..........you CAN do it !

took me a couple attempts at this mission, but it wasnt all that bad.

you have to shoot down ALL transports, cant let a single one go through. I found it easier to shoot down the planes by zoom n boom from above, so i just stayed at 1800 meters or so and i would be looking below me for the planes. Usually got one on the first pass or at least heavily damaged it, by the time i turned around behind them, couple bursts and the planes were toast.

just have to shoot them down ASAP, and you cant let them get past the area w/ the flood lights on the ground. There are 6 waves of transports, and after that you gotta go bomb like 1 thing on the ground and the mission is over.

dont forget to give orders to your squad. That always helps.

this is how i did this mission and i kept pressing right on the d-pad to give the follow objective wich is to attack the transports also if you press it twice quickly it tells all the avalible planes to attack i forgot this at first and only one would attack the transports :rolleyes:

Or you can press down and then right which tells all planes to proceed to the target anyway ;)

yeah i started off trying that but becuse im all fingers and thumbs and trying to do stuff at lightspeed i was pressing all sorts of combos lol so in the end i used the double tap :o

Hi fellow comrades!!!!!!!!!!!!

well its official this game is really testing my patients, tried it again last night, and i managed to shoot 30 down, there were no more waves but still one yellow dot on the compass which i cant get to coz it says return to battlefield. Im beginning to think its just not meant to be! Has anyone had this same problem or is it just my game and machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also do you have to keep continuosly telling other planes to keep attacking the transports??????

21 shot down still failed, is there a fault somewhere, total waste of time and money, a fortnight i have been on this level

Hello there fellow gamers!!!!!!!!! I did it!!!!!!!

Can i suggest if you are playing on arcade, then change to realistic turn the flaps half way down in the option settings and give it a go..... Also make sure you use your wingman( dpad down and dpad right x 2)

I did it first try after doing that. Admittedly i have switched arcade back on now tho.......... Dont give up! I was going to but i thought no game is beating me.

It got me two times until I just stayed around to where they fly to. Don't go off and hunt them let them come to you and keep telling your wingmen to attach them.

I just finished this mission. First I beat the game and the mission on arcade. Just played on realistic and it is much easier since you do not, repeat do not have to shoot down all the JUs yourself. Start the mission on realistic and unlimited retries and ammunition. As soon as you see a yellow triangle on the radar, begin d-pad down right or d-pad right and right again (which I find easier). You will do this the entire mission. Fly toward the nearest target and start shooting while using the d-pad all the time. The AI wingmen do better on realistic for some reason. Keep after the closest one until gone then go to the next. After the transports are gone, 5 or 6 waves of 1 to 3 each, you are told to destroy the airfield. Again use d-pad (I used left, left for cover me) blow up 2 targets (yellow) and the mission is completed. Much easier than arcade and only took about one attempt and one respawn.
