Interesting discovery while installing BoP UK on German PS3
Hi there !
Today received my copy of the UK Version of BoP. It was delivered to Germany already on the 5th of Sept. but got stuck in the German postal system so I just got it some hours ago. I ordered it via Amazon.uk as the German version was supposed to be cut and I also did not like the dubbed version in the German demo. Another point was that the release date in Germany is on the 30th Sept. so still some time to go ! With big surprise I witnessed the installation just to find out that everything is in German ! Menues, Intro Videos, the voices in the game..just everything !!! All the reasons why I bought the UK Version !!! Also the short clips in between the mission are in German, A.H., Nazis etc being faded out or replaced by "milder vocabulary". I checked again the box to make sure I got the English Version. The whole box cover and texts are in English and it was not opened before so no way I got the wrong one. Changing the PS 3 System language to English finally reveals the UK Il2 BoP. Seems like many different European versions are on one DVD and no idea why the release date in Germany and other European countries is so late. There is no technical reason, seems like sales politics ?!? So if you are in the UK and want to try out the German BoP on the PS 3 just switch your system language to German and discover the full horror of the German version.;) Good hunting Cheers Wireflyer |
The in game language is the one you have set as system language. The delay of the German version is probably due to the time the censors require to check all content for Swastikas, drops of blood or naked women...
I really find it funny that Hitler's name had to be cut out. At least in history books it's allowed to print his name... |
its because germany is trying to sweep WWII under the rug

Most Euro zone games have multiple language versions on one disc. The game auto detects which to use by your console settings.
My UK version also has Finnish, Portuguese and Swedish on the disc. |

Or look at the discussion about first person shooters in Germany. Some politicians really think that those kids who ran amok in their schools did it because they were playing such games. Nobody seems to realize there that apart from playing computer games all of them had another thing in common - being pushed out of society and mobbed by classmates until their only wish was to die or to kill everyone who was torturing them. |

Greets. |
I,ve got the German Version (USK - 12) of the game and bought it on 04.09.2009. Other shops in Germany listed the Game for 30.09.2009. Don´t know why. I can confirm that in the German (USK)-version some spoken Words like "Adolf Hitler" are faded out. But this is the only thing. On the same DVD is also the English "uncut" Version. You only must set your Systemlanguage to English. I can only say that for the PS3 version of the game.I think all EU Versions are the same Multilanguage DVD.

This is just like classic books that contain racial epithets - some people want to "clean" the books up, and all that is accomplished is ruining the context of the story - the atmosphere, the story, the characters, ect are all diminished by whitewashing contents. If you want people to see how wrong and ugly something is, you show them the naked truth - you don't clean it up and then present it. |

anyway, regarding the main topic of this thread, it's not so much the history of WW2 that they are trying to cover up, its just the whole... nazi thing (swastica etc.) case in point, look at my signature pic. when this captured german plane was sent back to germany to be restored by Dornier, they gave it a 'period correct' pain scheme, minus one very infamous symbol.... |
Ah, I love this country! I feel soooo protected from all that bad stuff...
LOL, its f****** ridiculous! It is illegal to own Return To Castle Wolfenstein here in Germany for example... By the way, showing Nazi symbols and saying Hitler in movies like Indiana Jones is totally ok! If I remember it correctly it's because movies are art, games are not! |

so how do you think the germans feel about a video game coming out every 6 months that is completley based on the rest of the world killing them,
HAHAHA if you just think about it. Germany's biggest mistake lives on in video games so well. and its illigal to own wolfenstein? ahh wow i feel bad for people in germany, that was such a great game. in 1995 and in 2003 haha i guess that would be like it being illigal in america to own... eh... um... wait we never lost a war did we? |
vietnam?
|
im pretty sure america captured saigon and it was the vietnamese general Duong Van Minh (South Vietnam) who surrenderd. and seeing as vietnam payed for war preparations and they had also surrenderd their economy to america, due to the fact their own war screwed them self over...
we lost way too many brave men and women. and it was a terrible thing that happened. but america did not surrender. they did. case and point. mmm time for some texas fries with jalepeos mm and im gona pour some spicy chili over it... mmm oh i have to go. be back later |
Is the US winning the war in the Mid East?
|
Nazi's? World War 2? When did this all happen? Can anyone send me a link to this? I thought this was just a fantasy game?

are we winning? no... have we lost yet? no... so back to the US Not losing a war yet... it still stands untill we pull out of Iraq and Afghanastan due to the fact you cant tell the differance between gorilla fighters and civilians. So with that advantage on their side. its a blind war. we could easily sove the whole conflict but it would never happen. all you have to do is force a new god on them and every one who does not conform will be shot. so thats a pretty simple fix **im just kidding** |
I do think it must be a little hard to swallow (for the German people that is) that games like Call of Duty, Brothers in Arms etc. are aimed squarely at the German Army. There's a strong sentiment in those games that if you're in the German army, you're a Nazi and so you're fair game, whereas obviously nothing could be further from the truth. I'd actually love to see a Call of Duty with a good Axis campaign, to tell the other side of the story, but I guess that's never going to happen.

regarding what ONTHEBORDERLAND said, i couldn't agree more. not everyone was an evil nazi... In fact, if i'm not mistaken, the current pope was drafted into the wermact toward the end of the war.... And it would be interesting in this game to have a campaign mode as the German military during the blitzkrieg during the beginning of the war, since aircraft acting as ground support was a major aspect of that. |
