Online Match Rough Idea?
So while I was sitting in my living room, watching TV, when I suddenly got the idea for a possible Online match, that could be easily set up. The whole basis, though not during WW2, would take place in Spain (Map would probably actually be Sicily?). And it would "take place" during the Spanish Civil War. The only fighters available would be the Me-109E, and the I-16, since both of them actually did go up against one another during the conflict. The Soviet or Republican side would be equipped with I-16s, and for bombers have the Il-4. The Fascist or Nationalist side would be flying Me-109Es, and Ju-87B-2s.
This is just a rough draft of my idea, and I just thought what you all thought of it? Any input as to how to make it better would be helpful, and any ideas of maps, I'm not sure, but Sicily seems to be the best map for it? Also, all but the Il-4 was in the Spanish Civil War. So it would probably be just a Dogfighting match, making it more accurate? Unless suddenly some people want to fly Stuka's and try to bomb the Republican side? Just a rough idea I had. |
I'd happily fly the stuka. Its what i flew on IL2FB when doing the campaign lol.
Not so much into the whole dogfighting only scenario though, but thats just me. |

This match sounds interesting though I find with these things that gathering everyone together and getting everyone organized for the battle might be harder than the actual combat. But the first thing to know is what console do you want to do this on? |
i do believe he has both the ps3 and the more superior 360 lol. so take your pick.
im a 360 player. |
It doesn't matter to me which console it's done on. Maybe I'll try it on both, but like you said Matt, it might not be so easy gathering the people, which I have taken into account. But this match (If it can be organized) will consist of the Stuka and the Republicans/Soviets will probably be flying fighters, as during the later years. The Republicans were focused on fighter cover of the cities they controlled etc. The Fascist/Nationalists were more into the offensive. So this game would involve, Stuka's attacking the town or whatever the Republican I-16s are defending. So both of you would be able to fly the Stuka, since that would be the only bomber available at the time. Unless for some wild beautiful reason, they come out with some late 30s planes, in which we could use. But anyway, it doesn't matter what console it's done on. If both sides would like to do it, I'd try it out on both 360 & PS3.

Id be up for that if i can fly the stuka :)

EDIT: Also, my idea may smooth out more as we go along. I absolutely will not start this tomorrow or even friday. But I do promise to start it. |
No rush :) its going to be a crazy week for everyone who has the game so you may aswell get a feel for it first etc and enjoy it. I'll be happy to fly the stuka anytime you need me. Hope i have good 109 cover though :p

Wait one thing for me, we've got to play on realistic for me to be in, if I'm to fly a German plane that is. Normally I would prefer Simulator by a mile, but I can not fly with that virtual cockpit.
|
Ok, so here's my layout of where, and what planes will be taking part. I won't start it today, as I'm going out with some friends for lunch in a half-hour, but I should get it going tomorrow or so? (Labor day is the best work-day day off!!)
List of Planes (Any plane not on the list, will not be able to partake. I want to keep this authentic and cool as possible.) Republican/Soviet Forces I-16 Type 24 Rata/Mosca- Will mostly be used as a fighter, and support of bombers. I-153 Chaika- Also will be used as a fighter, and support of bombers. Po-2- Though it doesn't have a forward firing gun(s), it will be used as the Republican version of the Ju-87 Stuka B-2. This plane will have to be covered very well, so those flying the I-16s and I-153s will have to keep it close to the Po-2s. Nationalist/Fascist Forces Me-109 E3- Will be used as the fighter it is made to be. Will also be used to give cover to the bombers. Ju-87 B2- Obviously will be used as the light bomber. Though it does have guns forward in the wings, it will still need some cover from the I-16s and I-153s. He-111 H6- They weren't really used in the Spanish Civil War, but they were on the ground before the war ended, so I will allow them. Probably won't need as much fighter cover as the Ju-87s, but it never hurts to be careful. The map will probably be either a Sicily map, or Stalingrad during the Spring. Both will do, any Sicily map will do since both Spain and Sicily are Mediterranean and they do sorta look the same. I'm not sure how I'll spread out the numbers of players for the each side. I would like it so their is an even number of fighters and bombers on either side. But since people are jumping for Ju-87 duty, some might have to switch to flying a I-16 or something, incase the number of players on one side is more than another. Wanna keep things fare. EDIT: Also, the game will probably be played in Strike. And the Nationalist/Fascist force will have to be aggressive as they were really into attacking Republican/Soviet ground targets etc. But the Republican/Soviet forces, were also highly aggressive with their tactics of attacking the enemy bombers. |
Ok, so I'm starting on the list of who's flying Stuka's etc. If you wanna join this, just say what you want to fly, and what system (360 or PS3) so then I know who to contact etc. when the game starts up on which ever console.
EDIT: It will be on both consoles, but some are on before others, so it's more timing then anything? |

ill be flying I-16 Type 24 Rata/Mosca on PS3 if i get the game in time :D |
I can fly either a ground attack or a fighter, depending on who wants what, I'll be pretty versatile. Though my preference will be ground attack. Then I just need to make sure I have said plane unlocked!
One other note is that I'm not sure what the status of my headset will be at, is it crucial for me to be able to talk? XBL GT: mattd27 |

@Matt: Don't worry, just give me a plane (Stuka maybe?) so I can put you down. :D Thanks. |

Alright good, I'll tell you my plane of choice later today, I just need a quick look around my hanger to see what planes I have on that list. (mind you by the time the match starts, I'll probably have a lot more).
|
Count me in if you do this on PS3. PSN: lazyboy_se No preference of sides. Fighter preferably. Just have to get my game tomorrow, and collect some planes.
|
Ok, I'll add you to my list. I'll place you under Republican/Soviet for the time, you'll fly a I-153 Chaika, and I can always switch it around whenever. This list isn't permanent. So if one day you want to fly Republican/Soviet, then the next Nationalist/Fascist, you can. :D
|
sign me up for the HE-111 :)
|
Ok, so far we have a equal amount of 4 people on either side. Matt, I put you on the Republican/Soviet side, flying Po-2s for now. Just so it would even things out. Everyone has been added to my list, who has posted. And House! I've got you flying Heinkels at the moment. Everything is what everyone wants for the time. You can change if you like, I have no problem. But don't anyone change yet, until we get some more people, maybe an odd number? Like "7"?

It's four on both. Funny, because most of the Republican/Soviets are PS3 players, and 360 players are Fascists.... coincidence? I think not :P

hey guys i was wondering if i could join, my XBL name is DaNNy B00zE (the 00 in booze are zeros ) can some one contact me on the when and were plz n thnx
|
I need to know what plane you want to fly, first before I can add you?
|
aahh, I'm thinking the po-2 is the biplane right? I should be alright flying that, but I'm still flexible if there needs to be a change in the lineup.
|
So far, everything is good. We have one Bf-109 pilot (David) two Ju-87 pilots (FOZ & dald101), and House is the only He-111 pilot.
On the Republican side, we have you Matt flying the Po-2 Biplane, Lazyboy flying the I-153 Chaika, and me and P-51 flying the I-16s. But I can always switch it around later if more join. But I just needed to put people who didn't have a set plane in places that were still not taken by anyone else :D |
I would like to get in on this as well, I haven't even played the game yet though since I have been working non-stop lately. What time zone and time of day will it be available for ps3? I'm in GMT -5 here. I don't care what side/ plane it is.
|
I'll be a bomber pilot, ya already know me Psn
|

|
yeah I've just remembered I don't think I've actually unlocked the po-2 yet, I'll get on that right away, anyone know how I should go about getting it?

Sure thing. I'll put you on my list. You and David are so far the 109 top cover for the Stuka's and Heinkel 111s.

Bring this to this page so everyone can see it :D

This would be much easier in Il2 1946. We could get all the right planes, and they would all have cockpits. We could even have the right camo's and markings on the planes, but I'm sure this will be a lot fun as it is. I've had an idea for another plane though. The Republicans used Tupolev SB bombers, so maybe the Il4 or the Blenheim could be used as a substitute? Just an idea. |

EDIT: Also, there are some friends that are willing to join this, and we've been playing around a bit. They all have PS3s and 360s as well, so if we have one console without enough players or something, they can help fill the gaps :D |
Ok, great. I'll have the po-2 later tonight and get some practice. :)
