Interesting. I was expecting it to score higher. Having said that i don't care what some idiot thinks of the game. It's our own opinion that counts. Add to the fact that all the major review site are now compromised these days by dodgy deals and kickbacks.

Wouldn't suprise me if the publishers of Heroes Over Europe paid the big sites to review BoP poorly.

it got 8/10. why is that poor?

Right, the HOE got 5/10 in the same issue. Why wouldn't they pay for their own higher score instead of sinking the Birds of Prey? :grin:

Very unspecial and average in the worst sense of that word. You can’t pound it for being terrible, but it’s hard to find something to recommend it for.

Sorry, haven't bothered reading reviews since OXM were going through their phase of handing out 9 & 10's like candy.

The opinions i value the most are those of other people posting here. Based on peoples' impressions of the demo i think this will be a spectacular game. (I personally haven't played the demo as i don't have XBL).

Considering its more of a niche title my first thought was "cool an 8".

actually better than i thought it would be. Regardless of how good the game is, they usually get fairly poor scores because this genre doesnt appeal to game reviewers (or the ones who seem to do the reviews for flynig games).

Im happy with 8/10, and look forward to next friday when i can fly around in the mighty hawker hurricane and shoot down some HE111's over dover.

find it hard to believe that they reckon BoP isnt the best air combat game - what is? im sure even the arcade mode is better than most others' in their entirety.

edit: i take that back actually. it said "of all time", so i would have to agree with that statement. my bad for not reading it properly :oops:

Not on niche games they don't. The only time that happens is on real big games. Niche games like WWII Flight Sims had neither the budget nor the desire to bribe reviewers.

No we come to the dumbest, and most ignorant statements I have ever seen. At first I thought you might have been getting paid by the publisher to say this stuff, but this last part is so ignorant, and so stupid that nobody would pay you.

First of all these are 3 very niche games nobody bribes reviewers for niche games. Second of all I have never of any publisher paying a mag to give a bad review score to another game. That is just flat out stupid. Third of all the game got a 8/10. So your trying to say that Ubisoft payed them to give their competitor a 8/10. Do you realise how stupid, and ignorant you sound. Not going ot happen. So far the game has got a 3.5/5, and a 8/10. Anybody expecting this game to average anywhere close to 90% is simply in fantasy land.

It will average either in the low 80's or high 70's on Gamerankings.

I find a little evening primrose oil helps alleviate the "knarkiness" of PMT.
In between games of HOE why not have a nice scented bath. Then its a chick flick, a glass of wine and a box of chockies for you, young man...and don't forget the early night ;)

Anyways, decent score, hope this game is supported with extra content/features in the future.

8 out of 10 is a good score considering...:grin:

reviews are all subjective anyway. im sure there are people who have gotten enjoyment out even the most hated, low scoring games ever.

im almost inclined to agree with you about EAW, Foz. it was a mighty game at the time and still going strong with the mod community. have you seen what they have been able to achieve? i love all those old microprose sims - top notch. think that BoB2:Wings of Victory is my all time fave though. so immersive, its a beautiful game.

thats just my opinion though. which is sorta my point. lol.

Even in wuss (arcade) mode you can hide most of them through the options (hud from full to minmal).

I really did think it was way over cluttered through with all the yellow pointers. Have a red one to your current target by all means, but we don't need an arrow pointing to all of the enemy aircraft at once surely?

Also, is there any way of turning off all that annoying enemy radio chatter when you shoot them down? Would have have that IRL? I find that really off putting.

I may be a little late to this thread, but OXM never (or very very rarely) gives out 10's. 10's are reserved for absolute perfect games. I don't think they've given out very many. GTA4 and Fallout 3 are the only ones I think recieved that rate. It's also possible that they only got 9.5 due to the way they scale things. An 8 is a very impressive score as far as the OXM scale goes.
