Hi Oleg any update worth seeing?

Really looking forward, it has been a while.

Tree_UK 08-21-2009 09:45 AM

Should be only a couple of weeks mate and we will see actual in game screeinies, Hurrah!

Bloblast 08-21-2009 11:33 AM

Says who?

Oktoberfest 08-21-2009 11:36 AM

says Oleg in his last interviews. He "promised" in game screenshots around september... He alos promised regular updates every month though....

Let's see what will happen.

Tree_UK 08-21-2009 12:01 PM

yep, he said we will see in game shots from September on. The game is already 80% finished so this should be no problem posting a couple of screenies, Thank you Oleg!:grin:

Feathered_IV 08-21-2009 12:24 PM

I doubt very much that anything of any real substance will be revealed.
After so many years pitiful little morsels, I find the prospect of a few more blue-screen wip's from third party contributors and evasive commentary to be more of an irritation than an update.

Tree_UK 08-21-2009 12:51 PM

I cant believe Oleg would tell us that we are getting in game screenies in September and then let us down, its just not his style.

Two weeks, huh?

Damn.

furbs 08-21-2009 01:36 PM

i cant wait!...im sooooo excited!!!

lep1981 08-24-2009 07:15 AM

Waiting for SoW is like waiting to win the lottery without even having bought a lottery ticket!! I really hope Oleg gives us a bit more hope while we wait for this release, it's been SO long already. I enjoyed IL2 for so many years, however I just decided to stop playing it until the release of Storm of war.

Good luck and happy waiting

Feathered_IV 08-24-2009 12:16 PM

It has often been said that war is made up of extended periods of great boredom, with fleeting moments of great excitement. So far, SoW's development has modelled that perfecty.

Ah well. At least it's free.

furbs 08-24-2009 02:16 PM

well...apart from the excitement bit :)

Feathered_IV 08-24-2009 03:42 PM

True. The excitement is somewhat undermodelled.
Although a patch is due in September that may remedy this.

:-P

major_setback 08-29-2009 05:56 PM

Oleg did say that the late summer update would include in-game screenshots.

flyingbullseye 08-29-2009 07:36 PM

Oleg has said a lot in the past. Lets see if he actually comes through for a change.

snowballs chance in....

choctaw111 08-31-2009 12:47 AM

I used to get really excited and would always say that "BoB will be finished when Oleg is done with it".
Now I have not been thinking about it much, and still say that "BoB will be finished when Oleg is done with it".
Oleg will finish this project, but much of the excitement for me is gone.
I will be very happy when it is finished, but I am no longer thinking of it constantly.

Feathered_IV 08-31-2009 12:56 PM

Me too. I'm not really sure I'll actually purchase it now. All the wishing and hoping and seeing nowt has gone on much too long. Oleg has missed that window of opportunity for me. I feel exhausted at the thought of having to go through all that emotional and financial cost again that a Maddox Game requires of you.

reggiane 08-31-2009 05:32 PM

BOB SOW is already finished months ago.
Haven't you guy's learned anything from IL2?
Oleg and team have been practising their uber dogfighting skills for months now.
So they can blast us from the online-sky when the game is finally released.
Same thing they did with IL2.
:-P

furbs 08-31-2009 05:48 PM

Olegs got a team??! ;)

I think you seem a litle too fragile to cope with a game like this..

Come on guys! You all know we are going to buy this game when it comes out! Most of us have been following this game since it was first announced early in 2004!
My first whining for this game was in april 2005.. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...803#7071082803

It can make anyone loose their patience.. but emotional cost?
That's for pancies...

Jeez, its amazing how so little has changed in the last 4 years and how little we have actually seen of a Sim thats been in development for soooo long. But i have faith and truly believe we will see this Sim within the next 2-3 years.

reggiane 09-01-2009 05:34 PM

BOB SOW or whatever it is going to be called runs the risk of losing its fanbase.
People who used to play il2 when they were say 15 years old will be around 25
when BOB is finally realeased.
At that age they have other things to worry about than playing computer games.
A new job,a career,a wife,one or more kids,mortgage,new car,new house.
You know the usual stuff when you get older.
Playing flightsims is usually not considerd acceptable by the wife/girlfriend.
As anyone married knows, all fun is history when you get married. So bye bye BOB.
Any 45 year olds with the kids out of the house and finding more time to play il2...
They will be 55 and older when BOB is released. At that age you have lost the fast response time needed to play the game well. You know trembling hands,
loss of memory etc the usuall things when you get older. Anyways those people will be too busy boring their grandchildren with war stories from whatever war they were in. Nopes no BOB for those people.

Speak for yourself you young whippersnapper. I started playing IL2 when I was 36. Now I'm more financially stable, 2 of my 3 kids are out of the house, my wife has already been trained on how to deal with me flying a few nights a week and the wisdom that's come with the added years is more than adequate to deal with those youngsters that have quicker reflexes but lack the patience to set up a proper bounce.

Yeah, I'm good for a few more years. So, if it takes that long to get this next sim on the shelves, I'll survive.

reggiane 09-02-2009 03:28 PM

@Thunderbolt56 :grin:
yeah you go get those youngsters oldtimer!
Have to admit I am even older than you ;) but still enjoy flying
my spit or yak from time to time.
Not without protests from my wife though so I guess the females in your
part of the world are a bit more tame and forgiving. ;)

What on Earth is going on?

Where is our new promised toy?

Mommy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

flyingbullseye 09-14-2009 08:09 PM

zakkandrachoff 09-14-2009 09:45 PM

15 years? I start laying whit 12! now i have 23!
and i don't like Il-2. I like lomac (i start whit the first Flanker in the 4/86). Il-2 have so poor simulation and graphics.
and kids...? never!
buth i am waiting so long! i m tired
want Storm of War, all series, now !!!! (or a update:mrgreen:

AdMan 09-15-2009 01:10 AM

there is no new IL2, it's a failed project

hiro 09-16-2009 06:07 PM

Hmmm

Once BOB SOW comes out . ..

And it runs on a system within specs w/out crash to desktops, weird errors, or slowing down everytime a formation of 10 bombers.

And the flight model is almost, almost, like the real thing, passing by that rain squall, and the thunderhead's updrafts buffets your plane . . .

Engine start up is a throwback to that warbird at Osh or Dux.

then the reflection of the waves and shine glowing on the white cliffs, passing by tree tops, and you watch the birds wheel about in your wash . . .

When you send that biplane making a torpedo run on your fish friends below, into the drink with a water geyser splash, and the gentle prism like drops rain across your canopy and streak away . . .

The wait will be a distant thought.

furbs 09-16-2009 11:11 PM

hiro...love the positive vibes man :)

Tree_UK 09-17-2009 07:56 AM

Yeah Hiro, those positive rays have filled me full of love and peace <Group Hug>:grin:

NeroMoura 09-17-2009 03:42 PM

Can't really complain about the long time we are waitting for this one. I remember when it was first announced in the ubi forums a bagazillion years ago, after the release of FB.

I had a crappy computer then, and nowadays I have a fairly decent one. But each month that goes by waitting for SoW, I can save more cash to get the computer parts I'll need once Oleg releases the game.

Maybe then I can get a computer which will enable me to experience SoW with quite a decent performance and all the possible goodies. I really would love it if Oleg would model some nice french girls sunbathing on beaches and stuff so we could fly by, open the canopy and wave at them. Hiro got me going on these insane day dreams.

Hey Oleg, how about putting in an extra month or two of development so you can model these babes and the possibility of dropping down little notes tied to a small stones, indicating to the belle dame to meet us at X airbase and... oh dam, got carried away again :P

Seriously again now. I really do believe it'll be worth the wait. I would hate to spend a s*itload of money on a new computer and a game that's half-finished, swamped with bugs and had no prospects of future expansion. I know, from IL-2 experience, that we can expect alot of goodies for a long, long time.

Asheshouse 09-18-2009 10:35 AM

Maybe the campaign game will open with British troops "sunbathing" on the beach at Dunkirk?

Skarphol 09-18-2009 11:42 AM

After seeing British 'troops' sunbathing at Aya Napa and Mallorca, I'm really not sure that showing more of that is a good idea.

Does anyone here REALLY think we are going to see anything this month?...i mean really?

Feathered_IV 09-19-2009 03:59 PM

Not even for a second. ;)
