playstation eye & birds of prey?

is it possible 2 use playstation eye for viewing in sim mode anton?, like trackir. gt5 will be supporting it when realesed.

Riceball 08-20-2009 11:57 AM

That would be nice. But I'm sure we would know by now.

But if it is, I hope the 360 version supports it.

One other curious note is that the PlayStation Eye can be used as a full 3D head tracking system, which would mean that not only does it track movement left and right, but forward and back as well, resulting in the ability to move your in-car view left, right, forward and back.

Shouldn't this be high priority if there is an update? Seriously, that would be sweet for IL2. I'd pick up a ps eye instantly.

It would be great if this game would support the eye. Because I AM getting the eye this week.

I wonder how much extra code that would make for? Could be a potential sequel item... i too was waiting on a good reason to get one of those, i'd imagine Sony would love it if another game aside from GT5 were to provide a small spike in eye toy sales.

No official date yet, put rumors are before Christmas. Kazunori Yamauchi stated early this week that GT5 will be released soon after GT PSP is released on Oct 1.

When heard about GT5 having head tracker a few days ago, I decided I too would get a PS Eye. If BOP enables it, my purchase would be even more satisfying. Here hoping!

Danny M NL 08-22-2009 10:56 AM

Seeing that it already costs too much extra time to add a few german cockpits, I highly doubt the dev team has the time and resources to add head tracking... not to mention the amount of time needed to tweak it...

they could ask polyphony for the code used by them, but even if they get the code, it still would have to be tweaked to work properly in BOP's engine...

PF_Lizard 08-22-2009 11:55 AM

TrackIR style tracking would polish this game to a mirror finish! lol

I wonder if there are API's available for devs, so the tracking is there as such, it just has to be implemented to the corresponding controls. In other words, R3 is assigned to the motion track output.

If the tracking has to be written in house, I imagine that's quite a mission and it probably won't happen.

The devs have done a stirling job with this game though. I've been waiting and waiting for Storm of War, but I suddenly stumbled across this and I think it just finally killed my PC - Total War is all that's left to play on it!

fuzzychickens 09-02-2009 05:49 PM

Sony should do the dang API for this.

They make these peripherals, they need to make implementing them in game as easy as possible.

guys the playstation eye doesnt have that capability and GT5 wont be releasing with that feature , if it did they would have surely highlighted it at e3 which they did not

Taken from the GT Forum

Yeah you know their not going to just throw it out there, without testing. Is this a confirmed feature?

If you mean the head tracking, no it isn't. PD had some information up on their site that was quickly taken down. Apparently, translating the info was tricky even for Japanese speakers. The phrase in question could be taken as head tracking with pseye. I tried translating in google translate and came up with something refering to looking around the 3d c0ckpit but it didn't mention the pseye. That could be controller based and not pseye. So just like everything else, we will have to wait and see.
Guilty is correct it is not a confirmed feature but if it does come this will freaking rule. They must have other plans for this camera besides eye pet thing.

fuzzychickens 09-02-2009 07:53 PM

Bit of a rant here, but it seems like Sony makes such a big deal out of their new gadgets and then completely fail to ensure they get utilized in games.

If it's because they don't build APIs to make it easy for developers to use them or because developers are just too lazy or risk adverse to use them, something needs to be done.

It sucks to go out and buy a playstation eye and see the complete lack of games using the thing in a useful way.

What about the new motion controller? - I seriously wonder if I could tape that silly thing to the stick-end of a plunger then glue the suction end to the floor and make my own long throw flight stick like WWII planes had.

Anyways - hope Sony and Microsoft start doing something to ensure these peripherals actually get support in current and future games.
