Release Date Confusion?

Sorry if I've missed a recent press announcement, but I am a little confused on when this game will be released. Originally when I pre-ordered at Gamestop is was 15th Sept. Then it was pushed forward to 8th Sept. Today I noticed on the 1C site that it is listed as the 4th of Sept which is a Fri? Maybe that is the ship date and the game doesn't have a set release date? Anyway, GS still has it listed at the 8th (LINK) and Amazon has it as the 15th (LINK). Anybody know anything about the 4th? Four days before DiRT 2 would be a little better than getting both on the 8th and having to ignore one of them for a day or two!

4th is for EU

Soviet Ace 08-17-2009 08:17 PM

From what I know, it's like SleepTrgt said: 4th for the EU, and from what I know, it is still scheduled for 15th of Sep. here in the US.

Thanks for the clarification on the 4th Sept date. I had no idea where it came from or what region it was refering to. Soviet Ace, check the Gamestop link. It list the release date as the 8th of September in the US. I recall that was announced sometime around the MP trailer stuff. Too bad I'll have to decide on the 8th between playing IL-2 or DiRT 2. :( Too many good games all bunched together! :)

The site just says that the preorders are shipped on the 8th. That doesn't mean they're releasing the game on the 8th, just sending out the preorders on that date. And if you look at the game sites ie IGN, Gamespy, Gamespot, and others. They all still say Sep. 15.

Gamestop says Sept. 8th now for the U.S.

Now...I...is...confused.

Listen. It's been done before with other games. They ship out all the pre-orders first, but don't release them until the actual release date. So when you go in on Sep 8th in the US, they'll tell you (They should) that all the pre orders are in the back. Sitting quietly in a box somewhere with the others.

Well I guess we'll see anyway.

Like your sig by the way.:)

There's no need to get worried. Unless Anton for some reason suddenly changes come on and changes it, then I dunno. But that's usually how the game stores work. They get the pre-orders first, then file them all away, and then get the mass shipment of the non pre-ordered. And they are all released on the exact same release day :D

Pre-order shipment= Sep. 8th (Gamestop and others)

Release= Sept. 15th

And thank you, xNikex :D

I'm sorry, but that is not how Gamestop handles their online pre-orders and shipping. All online orders are shipped directly to the customer, not to a local store and THEN to the customer (Gamestops's Delivery Rates). You might be getting confused about pre-ordering online and doing an in-store pickup. If you do that then your pre-order is included with that stores shipment (pre-orders and non-reserved copies).

As for the actual US release date I am more inclined to believe Gamestop is correct. The gaming websites you linked do not update those release dates very often, and have no monetary interest on what date the game releases. Gamestop does as does Amazon, but I have no idea why Amazon still has the 15th listed? An EU release on the 4th bodes well for a US release on the 8th.

Well as long as I've been going to Gamestop, that's how its been handled. I usually don't do online orders, but that is how they do their in-store pickup for as long as I've known. And I wouldn't trust Gamestop on their dates, the only game site I ever frequent much is IGN, and they've always had the correct game date release. Gamespot is OK, but they depend to much on their forumers to get the release dates, rather than get it themselves. Gamespy is just a little branch of IGN so they have the same information.

I did finally decide to preorder IL2 at Gamestop. They gave me both a ship-date and a release date. The first is on Sept 8th and the second is Sept. 9th. I asked about the Sept. 15th date and the guy said he didn't see any records indicating a Sept. 15th release. All of the copies should be in on the 9th and available to the public. Pre-orders simply have a guaranteed status.

At least, that's the info I received.

Yep that was the same information I got from My Gamestop while pre-ordering a few other games today.
